Democrat "hit job" utilizing all the tried and true Dem methods of Ambush, Divide, Use of all the right Buzz words - check Ford.

IF something happened there are hundreds of better options to report it rather than sending a letter to a politician. Hell sending it to Michael Avenatti would be more credible than sending it to that moron Feinstein. I may be Aging, but I can still smell BS from a mile away.

We're not talking convicting him. My entire argument is regarding whether she is likely telling the truth or not. That's it. Period. Everything we know indicates that she is likely (i.e. more than 50%) telling the truth.

Does this mean he should be convicted of criminal charges? Not without more evidence.

Does this mean he shouldn't be a SCOTUS judge? Absolutely.

There are plenty of candidates, with similar credentials and agendas, who could be nominated. The republicans and trump need stop being stubborn and just withdraw the nomination and put forth a kavanaugh clone who doesn't have these allegations looming.

Memories stored via the amygdala (i.e. traumatic memories) are incredibly reliable. Her recollection might have actually improved as she worked through counseling (i.e. unlocking/uncovering "repressed" memories).

    • Did not report for 36 years -- typical behavior of sexual assault victims
    • Only reported in due to SCOTUS nomination -- what it took to finally get her to come forward, not unreasonable
    Nothing to see here.

Please provide any information to show how qualified you are to come to that conclusion, or evidence you have that we do not that supports that conclusion.

Kavanaugh didn't have these allegations looming when he was nominated either.

Say they nominate someone different and, lo and behold, someone pops up to make the same allegations against him.

Welp, guess he's disqualified too. Now what?

That's what people are taking issue with. If the simple fact that the allegation has been made is, as you are asserting, proof that it's more likely than not true, and thus disqualifying, you can disqualify literally anyone you want by simply making the allegation.

Statistically speaking that is unlikely. Perhaps we should request an investigation to get to the bottom of this? If only those evil democrats and the "false accuser" weren't trying to prevent an impartial investigation to get to the bottom of it.

Your argument ignores the fact that the accusation is entirely out of character for the 50+ years of the accused's life. If you want to talk generalizations, then give us some statistics about how people who do this kind of stuff rarely stop after one time. When you look at Weinstein, Trump, Clinton, etc. you have several people making claims and probably many more that didn't come forward due to the notoriety of the individual. Doesn't mean she's lying or he's lying or whatever, it's just a point of information. Ultimately though you can't come to an informed conclusion without relying heavily on their stories, potential witnesses and other facts specific to this incident.

Getting statistics to back up your argument is your job. I have noted in multiple posts that what we know about Kavanaugh indicates he is not likely to be a sexual predator; I have also noted that those behaviors are easy to hide with enough money.

    My entire argument is this:
What we do know about Ford's accusation is enough in-line with what we expect that we can reasonably assume there is a 51% or greater chance she is telling the truth (in my opinion). This is enough, in my opinion, to derail a SCOTUS appointment. Period. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm not really concerned about the "social precedent" this may set. Sure, this could potentially create a cascade of fake accusations that derail many nominees. There's no way we could know that will happen until it does. Perhaps we should deal with that if it happens, and also do some impartial investigations.

Thanks for making my point. Namely that statistics standing alone are a maddeningly stupid way to reach a decision of any importance in either case.

Seems in her younger days pro Ford liked the night life and partying. Even had men fighting over her. Must have been a hot number

":Ms. Blasey Ford was a popular figure on the Dewey Beach bar scene.

She once got caught in a romantic triangle that culminated with the two men getting into a fistfight over her, according to people familiar with the incident.

“She enjoyed the Dewey Beach nightlife,” said another resident speaking on the condition of anonymity. The resident, now a restaurant owner, added that the town was “pretty wild” in those days.

Lisa Banks, one of Ms. Blasey Ford’s attorneys, did not answer The Times’ questions about her client’s Dewey Beach past.

I think it's important to have the hearing and hope all the details are worked out for this to take place.

I very much dislike accusations of this type that are made without proof. Especially at the "last minute" - I think it's very deplorable to do this to someone, when you didn't have the guts to speak up earlier.

Some are very hesitant to say anything because of the gender deal - the more helpless female being physically assaulted by the more dominant man. That's fine except in this case we don't know what happened without evidence and what's been presented so far - is weak at best.

I'm the first person to stand behind victims of domestic violence, but stuff like this sets the cause backwards, IMHO.

Looking forward to the hearing.....bring it....

I'm sorry but you cannot adjudicate the veracity of her claim as regards Kavanaugh ……. based upon a supposition that because she claims to have been sexually assaulted by Kavanaugh … she was … especially given the factual circumstances of the manner in which the claim was handled, her political beliefs, and her financial involvement with the abortion/pharma industry.

Perhaps the left should just own up to the possibility Ford's claim is erroneous … surely impossible to prove …. and just move on.

BTW ….. this is just laughable:

"Everything we know indicates that she is likely (i.e. more than 50%) telling the truth."

Please show how this is factually the case with Ford.

You know … Ford is a biostatistician perhaps she can help you with this endeavor?

    Thanks in advance.

In other words you don't care about what really might have happened with this incident, you are just throwing out more propaganda to support what you want to believe. Got it.

From the link ….. In addition to working in the abortion industry:

Friends told The Mercury News that the family eats organically and drives hybrid vehicles that they plug into a charging station in their driveway.

Other friends described her as liberal, chatty and dedicated to her family and her career as an educator.

Ms. Blasey Ford embraces left-wing politics and opposes President Trump. Last year, she joined a women’s march against Mr. Trump.

Her credibility is all but nil.
