I don't think any reasonable person would call him an extremist. And I imagine the Democrat Senators agree with you (in private) that he's a fairly ordinary Republican nominee. They're fighting tooth and nail because it's what they must do politically. That all said, I still don't think the allegation is a political hit. It's hard to believe she's been planning this since 2012.

Alito isn't an extremist. He's simply a guy I see as a rubber stamp for the Republican agenda. I'm not a fan of him because of that. I'd rather have a Gorsuch, who is arguably more to the right, because he's at least adhering to a judicial ideology. I felt the same way about Scalia (in the majority of cases).

I don't care what her party affiliation is. There's no incentive for her to lie. There was significant evidence at the time of the hearing that Thomas did exactly what he was accused of doing. There is still significant evidence that he did it. And then you add in another woman (in addition to both Anita Hill and Angela Wright) coming forward accusing him of the same thing. He did it. He got away it. Don't even get me started on how little respect I have for Clarence Thomas.

The Dems weren't kidding when they said would do anything to block this nomination. What's next, "finding" some meth in Kavanaughs judicial robes?

I'd have preferred Kethledge in the abstract, but don't think Kavanaugh is a bad nominee.

I've heard some things about Kethledge that would disqualify him if I were the President. Of course, they aren't law-related things. It's just more my personal outlook.

    He did ………

"Brett Kavanaugh and I were friends in high school but I do not recall the party described in Dr. Ford's letter. More to the point, I never saw Brett act in the manner Dr. Ford describes."

Judge goes on to say that he has no additional information to provide the committee and therefore, does "not want to speak publicly regarding the incidents described in Dr. Ford's letter."

The letter appears to echo his comments from last week when Judge spoke to The Weekly Standard, when he denied the incident.

"It's just absolutely nuts. I never saw Brett act that way," Judge told The Weekly Standard on Friday.

Mark Judge tells Senate he 'has no memory of alleged' incident with Kavanaugh

To avoid spending the day at the circus and having to either 1) admit under oath that Kavanaugh was a huge partier in HS, or 2) lie under oath that he wasn't.

There is zero upside that Judge can offer to his friend by testifying while trying to otherwise keep the barn door shut.

Because he, like most people, lack moral courage.
If he and K did the deed he's effectively lying by not appearing; and,
If he and K did nothing wrong he's hiding behind his attorney probably due to connections and business.

Unless he's willing to do so in front of Congress or under oath, that's not all the helpful since the woman accusing Kavanaugh is willing to do so under those conditions.

Well, me too. He is moderate and not so partisan. Those qualities assure that the Trump base and Cons in the senate won't put up with it. I would be surprised if that were to happen.

I really like his background and personality. I think he's a guy who gets it. I don't think Kavanaugh is. It's part of the whole silver spoon upbringing.

What does it matter what her political affiliation was/is? Political affiliation for many of us is a thing we wear lightly that are far secondary to other guiding values and principles. Is your own partisanship so strong you would violate other strongly held beliefs to advance "the cause"? I choose to believe you wouldn't nor would many others. By this statement you seem to suggest only D's can legitimately accuse D's of a crime or only R's can accuse R's.

Gee, why wouldn’t a conservative writer want to appear before a Senate Committee and have to answer questions about his personal life and beliefs? Judge has already stated that it didn’t happen and that statement can be entered in the hearing records.

The accuser is the only person saying he was in the room and cannot provide a time and a place that it happened. There is no way for him to prove he wasn’t there at the time since we don’t know where is and what time it happened. So why show up?

Exactly, his answer would be the same to every question.

I do not have any recollection of the incident that Mrs. Ford speaks of. Over and over for hours.

Orrr he does remember and doesn't want to commit perjury. Wasn't that the conservative line from like three pages ago? Funny how quickly the narrative morphs.

So, we’re going to set up a process with something that’s unprovable will possibly taint someone (and family) with 30+ years as an adult with no issues.

Sorry, it’s just sad. We’re now (possibly) judging the fitness for a position of (great) power by what someone may have done as a teen. Can’t wait for the next 30 years when folks’ Facebook and YouTube history is exposed publicly.

Pence is laughed at and mocked for not dining with nor being in a room with a female by himself.
Kavanaugh’s professional career is held up by something someone may have recalled but is not totally sure of 3 decades ago because it’s possible he acted like an animal.

This is why Trump wins. He realizes he’ll be butchered by the Left no matter what he does; so, he fights fire with nuclear bombs (allegorically) and keeps moving forward.

It doesn't matter when you attempted to rape a girl. Sad describes the notion that attempting to rape someone isn't a big deal as long as you were a teen and it was a long time ago.

Trump won precisely because certain people still don't take sexual assault seriously.

How can you take this seriously when it is completely unprovable?

If she truly feels this happened, why hasn't she filed a police report? Its out in the open file a report with the local police.

It's out in the open. Why does she need to file a police report? Why would that make any difference for you?

How can I take it seriously? I have a hard time believing she's been developing this plan to go after Kavanaugh since 2012.
