And if he did do it, the damage has been done to her as well. Regardless of what she does now.

Okay, let's say that we don't ever get to the point of criminally convicting him (a pretty good assumption), but there are enough questions that two Republican Senators and all the Democratic Senators vote no. That means that he will have to settle for his lifetime appointment to the DC Appeals Court. There are worse outcomes in the world.

And permanently smeared as a rapist...

It’s not like that doesn’t have any social consequences...

    Yes it does, dude...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Last I checked, a testimony... is a form of reaction to an event...

It’s a “take” if you will... a verbal expression of the experience...

No, it's not. Spare me the equivocations. It's a recounting of the event. By the time a case is going to trial, they've already "reacted" to the event.

If I was innocent, I'd fight it.

How do you fight a false accusation of rape without a timeline and without concrete details?

Pretty much all you got is, “she’s lying.” Not a very solid defense there, Home Boy...

Are there not certain reactions after a crime that make can make testimony more believable during trial?

After they both testify can Kavanaugh sue her for libel? Even if he still is confirmed his reputation will be forever tarnished.

Just one clarification, she wasn't "raped" based on her description of the incident. Rape requires penetration and she said he was fumbling with her clothes before his friend knocked him off and she got out. If he were to be charged criminally it would be sexual assault and is being reported as such.

Saturday Night Live is going to have a field day with this mockery of a hearing a la Clarence Thomas, Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden. Maybe they'll have the ghost of Teddy appear.

And she is being smeared socially right on this very thread. She has been called a liar. She has been called crazy. She has been called vindictive (a comment that wasn't even about her). And this is just the start. That is in addition to having been sexually assaulted if she was.

That is a good point. I edited my last post but you are right. One of my criticisms of me too is actually the conflation of all sexual violence as equal. While creepy old guys shouldn't be grabbing women's asses, that is not the same level of offense as rape. I say that not to excuse the former but to deal with the seriousness of the latter.

Let's also not forget about people trying to dig up dirt on her, like the foreclosure claim that was discredited and the student comments that were directed at a different person entirely.

Of course, but in a sense all it takes is a few.

Thanks to the ambiguity which could have been remedied had she addressed this less than four decades after it occurred...

Well they had the votes for the last one and probably this one, so not seeing why a few are going to jump ship for the next one. Sotomayor was pretty far to the left and I didn't see anyone screaming about her being too fringe to sit on the bench. When the president has the senate, he can pick whoever he wants and they will likely be confirmed. All this crap people have been spewing about the process being unfair because they don't have their swing vote anymore is idiotic. That's not the way it works and would be equally stupid if it was the Democrats trying to pack the court with partisans. That's the way it works.
