Had a conversation with a law enforcement officer today after the announcement of an FBI investigation. I asked them how they would handle taking that assignment, they said they would put a shotgun in their mouth and pull the trigger with their toe.

I think the wording is pretty close to verbatim what Flake said he wanted. I suspect that's the primary reason for it.

Well reading some of the comments on this discussion and in social media, I think there are quite a few who’ve already decided Kavanaugh is almost as bad as Cosby.

Call it whatever you like because if the FBI is not able to substantiate anything new, Democrats are still going to demand a deeper investigation into the non-credible claims.

The investigating officer steering the victim to drop the case gives me warm fuzzies about how accurate and even-handed the investigation was handled. And they didn’t test the sample until llloooonnnngggg after the half-life for detecting date rape drugs in a urine sample expired.

But there was still evidence other than a he said, she said. If the DNA test didn’t exist, would they have even moved forward on the case? No proof, changing story, just another drunk clear chaser, right? The DNA evidence forced them to actually “investigate” after she identified him, instead of sweeping it under the rug like everything else. Then calling ahead and warning them allowed them to coordinate their stories. So clearly the same, right?

She had proof of an interaction between her and Jameis. That elevated it above an alleged incident, to an incident that verifiably occurred. Where is the INDEPENDENT proof of an interaction between Ford and Kavanaugh at the party? It doesn’t exist you say? The victim would never lie you say?

She has her word. Just like Cosby’s accuser did. Let’s see what the facts develop.

So you think these women coming forward, and putting themselves through the ringer like this, are motivated by their loyalty to the Democratic Party?

....just to clarify a misundetstanding that has been perpetuated by *someone* in this thread, sworn testimony MAY serve as *proof*, IF it is uncontested, and a detetminatipn has been rendeted thereupon. Once it's contraverted however, and before it's been exposed to challenge, it is mere evidence.

That was disputed by three witnesses that she herself named as being at the party. Three witnesses who filed sworn statements saying what party?

So what about her ”word” has been proven to be true with respect to her allegations? They questioned everyone at the alleged party, and she is the only one who remembers a party. So she is the only one remembering the event correctly, and the other five are lying/unwilling to tell the truth? Occum’s razor.

If it’s limited to current credible evidence they are probably already finished with it. Of course the Dems will probably parade out two or three more over the weekend

This entire post is ridiculous. She remembered nothing. The people she said were there denied it. It is a sham. It sounds like something happened to her and I do think an investigation is in order. It's not about the truth, it's about stop the conservative judge by any means. I am continually baffled how the left and right are so far apart.

Testimonial evidence is *actual evidence.* You mean direct evidence. Should we be surprised there isn't any direct evidence?

I take Ford's accusation under oath as credible because she seems to be truthful, and addressed this in a way I would expect. She sent a letter to her Senator. She didn't jump out on social media and simply lob accusations at Kavanaugh. She didn't push the issue, even asking to keeping it confidential.
She hasn't condemned him, not even in the letter. She explained what traumatized her and what she alleges he did.

I believe it's also possible that Kavanaugh might not truly remember the incident, or he's lying. I was willing to give him much benefit, which I made known on this and other threads, for something, even quite ugly, that happened as a teen, explaining why. But he seems to me to be lying to protect a cultivated image, but one in which he cannot seem to honestly address his own yearbook comments and his friends comments, which scream partying and drinking and sex. Of course it does! I mean, that in a sense is unremarkable. Yet he wants us to believe this wasn't something that was anything at all that he did.

Thus, I think he's full of boofing shit when it comes his past.

Yet I understand the impulse. There's a lot at stake. However, if he were (more) honest, the best...or a much better route to go would be to apologize over the incident, even if he truly doesn't remember, addressing/taking ownership of his youthful indiscretions and the harm he caused. A sincere, heart-felt apology directly to Ford and anyone else he might have harmed would get him the confirmation he seeks whereas bluster and denial scream privilege, entitlement, and lying. He'll still likely be confirmed even though he didn't go this route, but he's damaged more by his response.
