First: your statement that I don’t care about Dr. Ford and only view this as a Democratic loss is a categorical falsehood. Please stop projecting your views on others. The reality is that the GOP and you, do not care if the allegations are true or not or this would have been examined professionally. What I have said, repeatedly since this allegation surfaced, is that the allegations should be investigated professionally. All of them. Including Ramirez, who did not come forward but who was pointed to by witnesses. Including the anaonymous letter. Including Avenatti’s client. Second, your reliance on comments by witnesses belies the reality that there needs to be a profesional investigation. Third, Leland, the friend of Dr. Ford’s did not say there was no such party. She said that she does not recall the party. There is no reason she would recall it since nothing remarkable happened to her. Finally, I’m an assessment of credibility, the accusations that a Kavanaugh is a belligerent bully were born out by his demeanor yesterday. I saw a woman say that she was looking into the face of Brett Kavanaugh, who was trying to take her clothes off against her will and covered her mouth when she tried to scream. I have seen three other accusations of similar non-check naesual assault while he was drinking. All not examined by professional law enforcement and inane, insulting political points why it is not necessary. That hearing was about letting women know to keep silent, which is why the prosecutor was silenced and the Republicans took over giving speeches why it was a sham. Utterly sickening. There cannot be a “left wing conspiracy” without the four stories, including Dr. Kavanaugh’s, being made up. Yet, that was the accusation yesterday. We are seeing the elevation of a credibly accused federal judge to a Supreme Court appointment without an investigation by those trained in such matters and the Democrats are being accused of playing politics. Well, you can’t do it without accusing the accusers of lying and conspiring with Democrats to falsely accuse Kavanaugh. Like it or not, that is just the way it is.
He did lie about those terms and they do have objective meanings. He also repeatedly misrepresented the witness statements wrt to this event, and lied about other terms used by him and his friends at that time and in his yearbook. I outlined most of it (forgot about Devil's Triangle in that post) here: Kavanaugh Hearing Also quoting for easier reference.
it's the same childish behavior we see from this party over and over again. They must have their way. They must win every time. They dig in their heels and double down on everything no matter how minor or monumental the situation is. Accusing the "other side", playing the victim, or simply remaining silent all point to the credible conclusion that they cannot argue the point with facts or a logical line of presenting reasonably considerable counter points. How many times has this president said "I believe him" from Putin to any and all cases involving Republicans and sexual assault. But conversely "believing" any woman that comes forward in the case of the same regarding Democrats.
Now I don't believe that statement one bit when you say the left is not your party. And the left is the one that started and caused all this pain they're the ones to blame
I was one of the people for months who said that we need to get past the partisanship. We need to start doing what's right for the country. We need to work together. We need to forgive what is in the past and move forward united for this country to thrive. I supported Gorsuch because I felt the Democrats had reaped what they sowed there. Elections have consequences. However, what's happening now is not something I can abide. If the Republicans ram Kavanaugh through (and it's become apparent that they will), I fully support the Democrats going scorched Earth. I support the Democrats bringing impeachment charges every year that they hold the House and Kavanaugh is on the Court. I support the Democrats packing SCOTUS in 2021 if they have the political power to do so. I support the Democrats refusing to confirm any judges Trump appoints from 2019 through the end of his Presidency if they, by some miracle, retake the Senate. I have been an Independent my entire life. I've never particularly liked either Party. I didn't vote for Hillary Clinton, and I think both her and Bill are loathsome people. However, what the Republicans are doing has gone too far. There has been one branch of the government that I've always had faith in . . . the judiciary. There has been one institution that I've always believed in . . . the Supreme Court. Confirming Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court will destroy that faith. As a person who has voted for a number of Republicans, I'm not sure I'll be ever to vote Republican ever again (barring exceptional circumstances). I'm in utter disbelief that the Republicans can't stand up and do the right thing.
Those dont apoear in my Webster's dic, copyright 1993 (which came out after 1982). Must have acquired new meaning since like ...yesterday?
She didn't say that the party never happened. She said doesn't recall the party. Absence of a specific recollection doesn't mean it never happened, it means it may or may not have happened but she doesn't remember it. Using myself as an example, if asked, I couldn't provide details of every party that I attended when I was in high school and I actually didn't attend all that many.
While I understand how difficult it must be to live in Kentucky right now, given that our streak has ended, I did ask for examples, not opinion.
But...but he has a weak stomach. I mean according to his testimony, the guy can't even put sauce on his spaghetti or he'll just start vomiting profusely. He couldn't have been a heavy drinker. (probably one of the more bizarre defenses/denails you'll see lol).
Maybe if they keep saying Kavanaugh lied several times under Oath yesterday, we'll eventually believe it.
I would suggest there are other ways to view Flake’s perspective here. Personally, I do think that the standard here should rise above the criminal standard. It is the Supreme Court after all. That said, I appreciate having in place a consistent lens through to assess such claims. Kavanaugh was called a wimp yesterday for refusing to give his opinion on whether there should be an FBI investigation, instead deferring to the committee. I think this is the proper response. Indeed, I think he knew he could count on the committee majority to refuse, but he didn’t choose the makeup of the commmittee. Like Flake, I have a lot of doubt about the truth of these allegations. I would prefer to try to find out more. If, as many have suggested, there wasn’t any more info we could find, i would side with Flake that we need more than what we have to deny confirmation. NB: at this point, I’d actually be more concerned about his demeanor and partisan rhetoric. I could see myself possibly voting no just on that display.
Somebody's reading skill needs work. You equate two different sentences with different meanings within your own message, and apparently don't realize it. Saying she does not recall, does not mean it did not happen. It means she does not recall. Two entirely different things. You may not understand that, but Kavanaugh has been paid for many, many years to understand that. When he makes that mistake, he is intentionally lying.
You lied. Own it. This has nothing to do with party lines. I fully supported Gorsuch. Integrity is everything. Don't lie to my face.
A longer reach than the claim that this entire proceeding was political con job designed by the other 48 senators?
It's necessarily a lie. "Gator_Lawyer, do you remember what you had for breakfast on Monday?" "No, I don't have any recollection." "There we go. That proves you didn't have breakfast on Monday." You see how that is wrong, right? You see how that would be a lie, right? Brett Kavanaugh is a brilliant man. He's an accomplished lawyer and judge. He knows exactly what he's doing when he misstates something like that. It's intentional.
It is a demonstrable fact that he repeatedly lied under oath. Just wrt his intentional misrepresentation of other witness statements. His other fanciful definitions for boof, devil's triangle, ralph, Renate Alumnius, etc. are just ridiculous on their face. Nobody conscious of popular references in that time frame or context of him doing this with a bunch of hard partying jocks can possibly believe the shit he was shoveling there.
I completely disagree with you I find his story a lot more believable than hers hers was all rehearsed and completely fake
