It's not about whether he was Cpt. Delta Bravo in HS and college, it's about whether he lied under oath. Big difference.

No of course it's not wrong, but saying one believes in god does not turn a lie into the truth. In my short time on earth, the amount of people who have used their faith in an attempt to legitimize a statement of fact, or alledge fact based solely on their faith rather than the fact itself is a very large number indeed. It adds no truthfulness to the stated fact.

Edit: Just added some verbiage to make it clearer.

Recap of the day: Dr. Ford appeared credible, but she did have two gaffes or inconsistencies that were very noticeable. One was the fact that the Committee was more than willing to come out to California to interview her there and this was made known many times over and she acted as if she had no idea. Doesn't matter if that is her or her's lawyer's fault, it was a gaffe and hurts her credibility. Plus, I have a really hard time believing she was totally unaware of that offer from Grassley and company, but whatever. Second gaffe was the obvious fact that flying doesn't bother her too much as she's flown to various destinations for pleasure numerous times and anyone who knows anyone who is afraid of flying knows that a vacation doesn't remove that fear. Something she sort of joked about as if that's how it works. You're either afraid of flying or you ain't. Made the idea that she was afraid to fly to DC seem disingenuous.

Kavanaugh appeared even more credible and had no gaffes or inconsistencies to speak of. He was strong and I can't think of a single gaffe or inconsistency.

I thought he was in big trouble. I think he probably gets confirmed now, which would be a miracle in the times we live in right now. GOP has played this pretty well.

Mentioned it much earlier in this thread, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that Kavanaugh was so inebriated when he (allegedly) assaulted Blasey Ford that he genuinely has no recollection of the event. If that's the case when he said that he didn't assault her it's possible that he actually believed that he was telling the truth.

News tangentially related to the hearing:

While the hearing was going on, GOP Senators on the Committee were being doxxed, with their home addresses and phone numbers being added to their Wikipedia pages.

The edits adding their personal information were made from a computer on the U.S. House network.

    VA,

You could say the same about Ford. Her memory is also presently pretty bad based on today. At least Kavanaugh kept some written records of his activities.

So you think that lying under oath was not a gaffe? Then I guess he really did lie under oath because it was intentional.

The mods should ban any poster who claims the Dems are the party of science/evidence after this fiasco. ROTFL.

Feinstein with her Nixon moment. Unreal.

Why is there no video of the so-called lie detector test taken at a airport hotel with two whole questions that no one knows who paid for yet? Was the test taken at a bar?

Aw shucks, I missed that. And lemme guess, when he gets confirmed, that means the GOP is okay with lying under oath. Amirite????

I wholeheartedly agree. Feinstein played political games. But in the end, Dr. Blasey came off as credible. Judge Kavanaugh came off as a man being evasive and belligerent. Then again, I'm just a crazy, liberal lawyer. What do I know?

FWIW, I think all of this is BS. If the Republicans pull Kavanaugh and put forward Barrett or Hardiman, either will have my support, and I'm fine with them pushing either one through during the lame-duck session if by some miracle, they lose the Senate.

I mean, I'm good with flying as long as we are going to an isolated tropical island in the South Pacific, but you want me to fly to DC? Hell naw!

Way off the mark. Let's be honest. Nobody was convinced of anything. If you came into it favoring Kavanaugh, you still favor him now. Vice versa is true for Dr. Ford and her supporters. This hearing gave the Republicans what they wanted. Instead of trying to investigate it, they got the he said/she said result they sought. However, to claim that Kavanaugh had no gaffes or inconsistencies takes some serious blinders. The guy freaking apologized after being told he screwed up during a break.

That's screwed up. That behavior has no place in this.

He came off belligerent in his opening... this man world has been turned upside down due to these allegations with threats to his family and friends. This is a man who already holds a very high and esteemed judgeship. Yet you're shocked that he was very upset and emotional??

As far as evasive, the dems no damn well he could not openly say that an FBI investigation would be welcome at it would ruin the pubs from fighting off any more suspensions. Don't act like the dems didn't know what they were doing there when they repeatedly asked him that question. Can the dems honestly answer to why the held this off for months or why they did not want to participate in the other investigation by the committee??

Edit: By the way, Kavanaugh straight telling Feinstien that you are interviewing me was a great response.

Quite possibly, but if it's possible that Brett the Party Animal was blotto and doesn't remember. That doesn't mean he didn't do it.
Well, yeah, pretty much. Not that that is anything new for the GOP. Laws are for Liberal Losers.
