Of course it is for "political purposes". She says so in the opening remarks she filed yesterday. But not in the way you are inferring. She didn't believe it was right to let someone who sexually assaulted her serve on the highest court in our land. That's a pretty compelling reason IMO, even if "political".
Sure to some extent... until that led to findings that he was regularly incoherent and belligerent and there were multiple accusations of sexual assault. Changes it a bit. I think.
FIFY below. He is literally not being judged for drinking in high school and acting like a drunken high schooler. Obviously you're not paying attention.
She didn’t want to say anything while almost at the highest level of court? Dems made this all questionable the moment we found out they held this back for months.
You could be right about it being "compelling", but it sends the wrong message. Why is him serving on the SCOTUS more important than keeping him off the streets so that he cannot harm other women? If the former is "not right", surely the latter is at least equally "not right". Right?
I think you should read the opening remarks that Ford sent into Grassley and the committee yesterday. They are linked in here, probably on the prior page.
You would have to show me a DUI charge or something that equated his drinking to an illegal and/or irresponsible act. Further......if no evidence was presented that he continued his heavy drinking into post-college life, for me - it's a non-issue.
That was not uncovered during the FBI background check. As of now...it is just an allegation. I'm paying attention just fine. Thanks for the "dig".
'Made to', no. Attempted to be made to, sure. More often than not, not made to, and not even attempted to--just clear as day that they THINK themselves superior. I bet you THINK yourself superior to me, right? LMAO!
None of the alleged sexual behaviour came out during the background checks, though. I still check the "normal" box.
I agree no doubt. But lets remember that this is largely about at what point a women will sacrifice her mental health and dignity to take on reliving the event trauma along with all the victim blaming and slut shaming that is endemic in sexual assault cases in this country. Even sometimes among friends and family of the victim. I'm not sure what aspect of sexual assaults are more damaging TBH - the actual assault or the attacks on the victims after the assault. Depression, suicide, addictions, stunted mental and emotional growth, and abusive relationships are very common place for assault victims. It is an all too ugly reality.
There was a woman on Fox late last night who was listed as a date on the calendar the he submitted. She definitely was not having any of this accusation WRT to drinking and behavioral problems. They have remained friends since high school.
Then you're purposefully misrepresenting the entire thing. He is not being judged for drinking to drunkeness while in high school. You are literally saying that is what this is all about. Wrt just an allegation: its 3 possibly 4 credible allegations and multiple testimonies corroborating the behavior. Waaaay too much smoke to just shrug your shoulders and say "meh, its just an allegation." Unless your stance on sexual assault is that "boys will be boys"?
Bingo. This is all on Feinstein. She made the decision to hold it. Really a dumb move by someone who should know better.
...explains a lot of the patent ignorance of your positions. Ask mommy and daddy about these things...maybe they can enlighten you.
