I could see that in the case when there is no other witnesses and it’s just his word against hers.

You have the alleged victim who has highlighted an almost exact time and exact witnesses with no corroboration to back her story.

It's quite easy for her to "get it wrong" considering "what's on the line" and the leftie insanity involved in stopping the Kavanaugh vote.

Democrats have taken US politics to a new low …… now it will be interesting to see how shamefully low they are willing to go.

Oh hell …. just get everyone involved to DC and have 7 weeks of testimony over this nonsense. Why not …… why not more leftie lunacy??!!

    Wow ….. an honest liberal???

Man apologizes for making false allegation against Kavanaugh

A man apologized on Twitter for making a false accusation to his Senator about Brett Kavanaugh, in which he claimed the Supreme Court nominee sexually assaulted his friend on a boat in Rhode Island.

The man, whose name was redacted in documents from the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Wednesday night that he made a “mistake” when he said that Kavanaugh attacked his friend in 1985.

Catalan’s Twitter account was identified in Senate documents, and he quickly issued the apology after news of his claims went public.

“Do (sic) everyone who is going crazy about what I had said I have recanted because I have made a mistake and apologize for such mistake,” tweeted Jeffrey Catalan.

Two men tell Senate that they, not Kavanaugh, assaulted Ford

Two men have come forward to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to claim that they are the ones who actually assaulted Christine Blasey Ford during a house party in 1982 — and not Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Republicans on the committee released a timeline of events late Wednesday, which included details about their interactions with the two men who admitted to the attacks.

On Monday, the timeline recounts GOP staff members interviewing “a man who believes he, not Judge Kavanaugh, had the encounter with Dr. Ford in 1982.”

Out of curiosity, do any of these women want Kavanaugh arrested and tried for the alleged crimes against them? Or will they be satisfied with him being withdrawn as a nominee?

With the veracity they seem to becoming at him you would think one of them would actually press for charges and jail time.

Is there not a statute of limitations? In any case, I don’t think there is any way he could be convicted in a court of law. They probably just don’t want the man they claim assaulted them serving a lifetime appointment on the highest court in the land.

In Ford's case it has been reported that there is no SoL for this type of crime in MD. Not sure about the other two. But it seems to me that one of them would want criminal charges.
It will be interesting if he is confirmed if one of them pursues this further or if all of this from their side will just be dropped.

And why aren't they testifying before the full committee? If there is concern about their privacy they could always testify behind close doors and their names could be redacted from the transcript of their testimony. Seems that an accuser who goes public is more credible than anonymous sources who are rebutting her allegations. Once again, will they be questioned by skilled investigators from the FBI?

I find it funny this is a tactic.. if she is telling the truth, why does she need to be careful not to add any details?

With the burden of proof in a criminal case, Ford couldn't win unless her side got Judge to confirm that he saw Kavanaugh assault her. They might file charges just to keep the pressure on, but very unlikely they could get a prosecutor to press charges in that case, I would think. They could then file civil charges as Paula Jones did against Clinton.

There has been something very significant up around Columbia since just after WWII. For someone like Kavanaugh who was interested in government service, he could have been headed up there for an interview about an internship.

Especially considering that they are almost certainly Brett Kavanaugh's good buddies from high school who are most likely covering for him, they are remaining anonymous and they have only been questioned by Committee staff sympathetic to Kavanaugh.

If they want to testify, by all means.

If these men can give a detailed description of the alleged party, the house it took place in, and who was there, it is going be hard not at least listen. Those are the details that Dr. Ford’s version of what happened lacked and if these two can provide it, then I’d be willing to hear them out.

I think @GatorBen is right that this puts some pressure on Dr. Ford's testimony. Her statement last night was the first time she has gone on record with the JC about what happened. Now that her story is locked down, it cannot change without damaging her credibility. It allows these men to fit their story into her timeline, like Avenatti’s accuser did with Kavanaugh’s calendar.

It will be interesting to see what happens once a vote takes place. At a minimum if these women are serious there will be civil charges. If it just goes away, you have your answer what this was all about.

This is an onside kick with 6 seconds left in the game. These dudes are not going to testify. Who is going to publicly come out and volunteer that they sexually assaulted a woman so their buddy can get a job?

Don't think so. Almost certain that the statute of limits has run in all of their cases. Paula Jones filed her lawsuit against Clinton in May 1994, a two days before the Arkansas 3-year statute of limitations would have expired. In the case of all three women we're talking about events that occurred in the early '80s.
