Its amazing to me that people think anyone outside party activists and super voters are following the drama that closely here on any side. Like lunch pail Joe is parsing the affidavit for loose logic or 30 year old clerk is watching some MSNBC panel break down "rape trains" on his lunch break.
She wants to testify, so let her testify. I'm guessing Trump will pull the nom before that happens. They don't need a bigger circus than they've already got. I assume they'll cut bait and seek a replacement.
Orrin Hatch is handling this well. "I WILL NOT PUT UP WITH ANY MORE WOMEN ACCUSING KAVANAUGH OF SEXUAL ASSAULT! STOP IT NOW! *Starts crying* LEAVE BRETTY ALONE! LEAVE HIM ALONE!"
FBI = incompetent when it finds evidence in opposition to the republican agenda FBI = competent when it finds evidence in support of the republican agenda hrmm..
It was also prevalent and accepted at UF, FSU, and UCF in those days. I have a high school buddy who went out to Arizona and has some pretty good stories from out the partying under the tutelage of Wilbur the Wildcat. All that I can definitively say form this entire mess is that I am extremely glad that I chose a career outside of politics. Most of the transgressions listed were things that happened on a fairly regular basis in those days. In fact, at any UF Halloween Ball up until 1981, all of this and more went on multiple times at a single event!
Right. There's a fundamental disconnect between the idea that she's is being extremely careful with her wording to imply what she can't truthfully say, but is simultaneously making the other direct accusations up wholecloth. So now we have three successful women who are willing to put their reputations on the line and face the conservative onslaught by accusing Kavanaugh. Three women who were in his orbit, and who really have nothing to gain by calling him out, except the dubious political "victory" or replacing one conservative with another on SCOTUS. The only real question at this point is why are Republicans still defending him? Between Roy Moore and now Kavanaugh, there seems to be a real inability for the GOP to just cut bait with people are obviously tainted. I don't know if it's tribe mentality or what, but it's frankly disturbing how readily some are willing to circle the wagons to defend the worst among them. Instead of demanding more and better from their leaders, they welcome them with open arms. Pretty sad commentary on the state of right wing politics, honestly.
I see we're starting to transition to the "it's not a big deal" stage of GOP rationalizations. After DJT and Roy Moore, you have the script down well.
And as I said, it’s not terribly difficult to discredit something that most states would never allow to see the light of day in a court room as evidence.
And as I said, Brett Kavanaugh has explicitly called a polygraph an important law enforcement tool and stated that one of its uses is testing the credibility of witnesses. Are you contradicting him? Is he wrong?
I'm a little younger than Kavanaugh, graduating HS in '91, but yeah, I've got a few stories. And happy I didn't enter politics either. And @PerSeGator, I think the defense of Moore and Kavanaugh is hopefully the last gasp of the good 'ol boy network seeing their power diminish. Like I said before, privileged kids who lived privileged lives have always felt they could get away with almost anything and never have any consequences. But with things like the @metoo movement, this power dynamic is changing. And it shouldn't be surprising that those who used to be able to get away with almost anything without consequences aren't happy about one day having to face the music.
No, this is what you said that I responded to: "They released Dr. Blasey's polygraph today. Anyone want to discredit that?" And I stated that it's not terribly difficult to discredit something that would never be allowed in a court of law as evidence most of the time. Then you tried to move the goal posts to something Brett Kavanaugh said about polygraphs. You didn't ask someone to speak to the effectiveness of polygraph tests. You simply asked if anyone wanted to discredit Ford's polygraph test and again, not hard to discredit something that generally can't even be used in a trial. For a lawyer, you do a lot of dancing. Even though I recognize you were trying to set someone up for a "gotcha!" with the BK stuff. You failed.
Nice try at being funny. Too bad your comedic skills are as lame as your logic. I speak for myself, no one else. Did I know guys who "grinded" girls? YES Did I know girls that the boys lined up to dance with because they would grind on you? YES Did I know boys that "spiked the punch"? YES Did I know girls that "spiked the punch" ? YES Did I know guys that hooked up with girls they regretted? YES Did I know girls who hooked up with guys they regretted? YES Did I know guys who went too far after the girl said no? YES Did I know girls who accused guys of doing things that they didn't do? YES Did many girls from high school think I was an ass? YES Did we both get past it and enjoy each others company at reunions and parties? Yes. And if we don't, it's not because of anything that happened when we were teenagers in high school!
Interesting reads: The Kavanaugh Allegations Are Upsettingly Similar to What I Saw at D.C.’s Prep School Parties in the ’80s Brett Kavanaugh’s high school yearbook, explained as best anyone can explain it
I didn't try to move the goal-posts, lol. I posted that specifically because I had the quotes from Kavanaugh's D.C. Circuit case. But I get it. You think you know better than Kavanaugh. He's just not trustworthy. I agree.
I don't have a single friend that held down a woman against her will, tried to take her clothes off, and covered her mouth to stop her from screaming about it. That you think that type of behavior is common and/or acceptable is very strange to me.
And I find it strange that all of the people who want him confirmed do not believe the three women who have now come forward and do not even want the FBI to investigate. We did not make up the allegations. Now credible because the pattern is evident. Booze the women up and abuse them.
