Um, I would think a half time break would be needed. It definitely is a marathon not a sprint, and certainly not for amateurs.
no she will testify first...but they haven't said who is doing the questioning for either person...she will have 2 attorneys...and it is Thursday 10 am
There are now reports of the New Yorker publishing a story of a second women. If true then this confirmation is in serious jeopardy. On edit: I should add that if the new stories are credible. If this is another allegation that cannot be supported by anyone else, this is like throwing grenades onto a dumpster fire after adding gasoline.
I wonder how Drudge got that. Washington Post calls the White House for comment on Ford and Ed Whelan is suddenly on Ford's online footprint minutes later prior to the story being posted. Wonder who is doing it this time (given that Whelan has seriously burned himself).
Are the bookies around the world taking bets? Have the oddsmakers put out the betting lines? Asking for a friend.
Ignore my last comment. Just checked twitter. Seems to be a lot more buzz than there was the last time it was bandied about.
If she didn't want to come forward, why did she take a lie detector test and contact the Washington Post? Not exactly holding this experience close to the vest... If she truly wanted to keep this story to herself, she wouldn't have contacted the media in any fashion, whatsoever...
I would value your opinion about what you would considered a credible second woman's accusation. If this is a similar allegation to Dr. Ford's, ie no person being able to support the accusation, will that be credible? Or is a second accusation enough? We have disagreed on a lot in this thread but I think you have added a lot of valuable input from a difference perspective.
It depends on what sort of corroboration there is. If it's just an accusation with nothing else, I wouldn't call it credible. If there's corroboration going back years and there's a connection to Kavanaugh, I'd be inclined to call it credible.
Thank you. I will say that I am concerned that the delay in the confirmation vote has allowed Democrats to work to find a female Democrat who can say she was alone with Kavanaugh at some point and claim that he did something similar or inappropriate in an attempt to kill his confirmation. I realize that means we are getting into extremely charged partisan politics, but that is the world we find ourselves in.
We'll see what the story is. Farrow and Mayer aren't the types to be used for partisan politics. They're legitimate reporters. I imagine they worked to verify the story before running it (if they do run it).
The claim in the rumor is that it is a "Never Trumper," which usually refers to Anti-Trump Republicans. Never Trumpers have never really been a huge point of opposition to Kavanaugh (he is an old school Republican operative). Of course, who knows at this point until the story is posted if it is actually being prepared and isn't a rumor run wild.
Here is the New Yorker story: Senate Democrats Investigate a New Allegation of Sexual Misconduct, from the Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s College Years Of note: It is not a Farrow written story.
Oh now the latest claim is only 34 years old. This thread is hysterical. What Dem was EVER investigated for behavior during his teen years?
That's also a really, really bad look for Senate Republicans. Article says that when the woman came forward, they renewed their calls to accelerate the vote. Oof.
You are correct. I was looking at the top of the story of the authors and mistook the names there for the authors. How do you think it is bad for Judge? Kavanaugh is up in the air at this point as this account seems to lack anyone at the party that can absolutely confirm it was Kavanaugh.
