You think that's always been the case? Civil rights and voting rights come to mind.

    Fetuses aren't children. They're fetuses.

Don't know what your take is but she's not the only one that feels this way.

at 20 weeks? how many kids alive on this country today are begging for that same chance? the kid doesn't become independent the moment is takes it's first breath. your energy and efforts would be much better spent trying to help the kids that are already breathing

they did vote, in places like Michigan in 2020. And still didn’t win back the chamber despite a five point advantage in votes statewide. Which in today’s election world is a solid victory. Imagine a world where the party consistently in the minority gets to set the agenda and keep itself in power. And gets the USSC to allow them to do so, and then hands them what the want legislatively. After McConnell broke precedent twice to give them that majority.
Why Democrats won more votes, but GOP won more Mich. legislative seats

it’s a rigged game. These laws will be on the books in some of those states for decades, despite the majority of people there being against them.

But the great news is, at least in Michigan, one woman did find a way to stand up and fix it. She basically a unicorn, but it’s a neat story.

What specifically did I say that’s inaccurate? The Dems got significantly more votes in Michigan, but because of gerrymandering didn’t win control of the legislature. That is the setup in a whole bunch of states (on both sides). And one of the main reasons why the will of the people on a variety of things doesn’t get done at the state and national level.
And McConnell did break precedent to sway the composition of the USSC. Had Garland been allowed to proceed we would likely still have Roe and this would all be moot (Roberts voted to keep the core idea there despite the 6-3 vote on the larger issue).
Which is why these laws will still be there even in places they aren’t popular. Kansas want an outlier, they just did the decent thing and put it up for a vote.

It's an analogy based on the same rationale i.e. that the decision should be left to the state. Decisions involving basic human rights including bodily autonomy should not be left to politicians. By the way I don't think the overwhelming majority of Americans would consider an early first term fetus the size of a kidney bean and incapable of living outside the womb a child. Probably surprising to you based on my prior statement but consistent of what the majority of American believe, I do feel that later in pregnancy, maybe late in the first trimester that a fetus should be entitled to protection although I also believe that the health of mother should always take precedence and as a point of information only 1.4% of abortions are performed after the 20th week according to data compiled by the CDC. I also believe that doctors who perform abortions based on medical necessity should have qualified immunity with the burden of proof on the state that there was no medical reason to terminate the pregnancy.

These idiots who want to say that the law was just kicked back to the states are ignoring that pro forced birth Senators and Reps are saying that if their party ever gets full control of the government, they will pass a federal abortion ban.

Cute picture adding the caveat that the woman in the pic is most likely past the 30th week, a point in pregnancy when a viable fetus is virtually never aborted.

All the USSC was return the choice to the people, not 9 USSC justices. You can continue to bitch and moan about how Govt isn't fair, but the rest of us are living in the real world. IF people want something to happen, it will happen by voting.

so you can’t refute the basic points I made. Guess there’s not much else left to discuss.

By this logic maybe Clarence Thomas should have a separate but equal bathroom in the SC building, or maybe be in prison for marrying a white woman. SCOTUS used to be about universally expanding rights of individuals, not taking away and putting them in the hands of a few legislators to decide.

Well, when one makes such a stupid analogy like you did, be prepared to get ripped for it. But hey, back to happy hour sport.
