It's funny, though. We deal with many binaries that are not perfect binaries: heads/tails day/night on/off visible/invisible audible/inaudible The binary aspect is apparent, but there are obvious exceptions with each pair. I don't think male/female is any different. That an occasional exception needs to have a way of being addressed doesn't change the fact that the general binary has utility. Definitions and context seem like the most reasonable way to navigate through the ambiguous part of any imperfect binary. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
You’re so far off topic it’s frightening. No one said trans wasn’t around back then. Trans is now a trend and picking up steam and it’s involvements include my children. The government and the nation has to make decisions based on how confused people feel.
You are making my point. You used the generalization "Kansas being Kansas". I took that as a perspective of the state. The people. I was pointing out that the people dont fit the mold you appear to be squeezing them into. I agree with the Kansas voters and I would agree with Florida voters that side with Disney. If I misunderstood your point, I am certainly willing to accept your explanation.
Wut? Your kids are involved in the trans trend? Well this explains a lot. Guess you are going through some things.
What? Thats not even remotely accurate regardless of what side of the aisle you sit on. "Our" as in the 3 gifts my wife and I have. "Our" as in American. "Our" as in those in my extended family. "Our" as in the girls my daughters travel and dance with that call us mom and dad and are always in our home. "Our" as in the dudes my son sweats and bleeds with on the basketball court. "Our" is a word that encompasses many things. I am thankful for our village of people who can call my kids "our" kids in that sense. I know very few successful parents that view the world the way you are saying it should be viewed.
Because you said it was a problem and you want govt to fix it. But there are already laws against pedophilia, so why the focus on LGBT when the numbers show that shouldn't be the major focus?
How can it be a trend when it's consistently like less than 1% of the population? Of course, if you poll morons, they think its like half of all kids now.
Finally, we find out where all this transgender stuff is coming from. The Daily Wire's Michael Knowles warns of “hypnosis pornography” that will lead to "transgenderism”
Come on yourself. Why is he bringing his kids in to this? I don’t think they’d be too happy to hear they are involved in the trans “trend”, when they are highly likely not. It’s a pathetic attempt to personalize something to himself that isn’t happening. You should never bring your kids in to a discussion to make a point about your own personal bigotry.
Agreed! I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a drag queen that wasn't on Duval Street in Key West. And I don't know that I've ever actually met a trans person in real life. But hey, I guess it's easier to solve manufactured problems than real ones...
GOP It makes sense when someone is talking about others peoples children as if they have the right to speak for and tell others what they can and can’t do. Social conservatives just love making everything their business.
If their main concern is protecting kids, maybe people who see this as a crisis could work on ways to reduce the number of kids watching pornography instead of attacking trans people.
Also part of that old trope that homosexuals are "recruiting" kids to be homosexual. They fail to see (or don't want to see) the distinction between homosexuality and pedophilia. They are not the same.
Yeah. I also had another thought. To the extent people such as Andrew Sullivan fear that the trans movement/acceptance is resulting in gay boys feeling the need to transition, it seems we should be pressing for even greater acceptance of homosexuality. But from what I can tell, the people who seem most outraged about trans acceptance have religious objections to homosexuality, too. Many feel like they lost that battle (at least for now) and are focusing their energy to one they think is more winnable. But that's another example of ways we could possibly reduce the number of people having to take hormones or get surgeries - if that's the real concern.
I rated it "funny" because the premise is absurd. What makes it scary is that a lot of MAGA Republicans actually believe narratives of that nature and there are plenty of Republican politicians the majority of whom probably know better who are willing to capitalize on the irrational fear of their constituents who live in the right-wing bubble.
The "c'mon man" is because you are twisting his words. He clearly means his kids are growing up around it, not that they are part of it.
