Any statements from her on the subject more recently than what she said five years ago? I'm pretty sure that's not her position anymore and keep in mind there were several instances of poorly trained police officers treating middle school students as if they were criminal suspects. One example and this is from roughly the same time that she made that statement.
Police officer resigns after video shows him using excessive force on an 11-year-old girl
    Another article on the subject:
Inside 285 Cases Where Campus Cops Injured — Or Killed — Students at School

By the way I strongly support placing resource officers in schools provided that the officers are well trained and are able to properly interact with students.

Seriously, who wouldn't want their kids to go to a school where police officers weren't needed? But no, it's far more important for Americans to have access to guns than books.

I share concerns about going too far in criminalizing misbehavior of children. Having said that, I had a good SRO when I was in school and think they can be an asset if selected, trained, and utilized properly.

Even if I agreed with your position on guns, can we at least handle that first before pulling cops out of schools? Just admit it. Her proposal is reckless and profoundly stupid.

But still a better choice than an obviously unhinged and cognitively diminished candidate with strong authoritarian tendencies who wants to ditch the Constitution.

The irony is her proposal here would likely impact inner city schools the most and not in a good way. Not sure why I’m a little surprised. This is right up there with looking the other way at the border. Security? I mean, who GAF about security?? (cackles)

Have any statements from her on the subject more recently than 2019? Just asking.

That was a sentence from 5 years ago. What is to her position now? with ever increasing mass murders of gun nuts using AR15s.

However there are cases of sexual misconduct by officers in schools.

“The Post identified more than 200 elementary, middle and high school police officers who were charged with crimes involving child sexual abuse from 2005 through 2022. Some of these officers had faced prior complaints of flirting, texting or touching students — reports that were oftendownplayed by supervisors as little more than a cop working to earn a student’s trust.”

Moral decay is so much fun. Put cops in and risk fondling or leave them out and they are killed by mass shooter. The Devil is one happy dude lol.

I like your line of thinking, but it is more than a little insulting to Otis Day and the Knights.

Just when one thinks the scarecrow is out of ridiculous ideas, she rebounds for an uncontested layup of stupidity.

Ignoring your description of her statement what did she rebound from in 2019? Once again just asking.

She's talking about the policing of students, which skews towards their skin color, not protecting kids from shooters. It's an easy distinction with a minimal amount of brainwork. I am sorry it is a struggle for you.

That doesn't matter. It was a stupid position then. If nothing else, based on your argument at the very least, it shows she severely lacks prescience. But school shootings are not a new thing and only a dolt would have said in 2019 that having SRO's in schools is a bad idea. Kamala Harris = dolt

interesting. yep, a difference between police in schools to police children vs having security/police on campus to stop a potential active shooter. Probably need to hear more than a 30 sec clip from 5 years ago. And also hear her feedback today.

There is A LOT i don't like about Harris and she would be far down my list of candidates to be on the dem ticket (but still way above Trump for my vote). But this clip from 5 years ago out of context doesn't really do much.

How in the hell do you know that’s not her position? You are making crap up and even you know it. Typical liberal.

While I doubt this is actually true, school resource officers are there mainly to arrest and harrass students, not protect them. They should be consigned to the dustbin to keep our children safe.

The interview speaks for itself. That section was a discussion on over incarceration of black and brown boys leading to missing opportunities and the structure to have police in their schools contributing to it.

If you want to watch it in context, i doubt it, it starts between 43 and 44 mins in and goes to about 45 mins.
