Funny story I was at UF and about as broke as Iv e ever been in my life. Couldnt even afford Ramen noodles anymore and without watching any college bball all year managed win the 200 student tournament that night after the Webber timeout. I have a very fond place in my heart for Chris Webber needless to say.

I think OSU just used that excuse to fire Hayes. The real reason is he could not beat Michigan.

Had it not been on national TV, he might've gotten away with it.

I do see what you are saying, like I said, perhaps he needs to be fired. I just am not a fan of the modern movement to firing being the first instinct. Suspend him immediately and make the right decision in the light of day is all I am really saying.

    Good point, WES.

Along those lines, in my opinion what should have happened by now is both coaches reaching out to each other, (including the assistant who was bitch-slapped), to apologize and create a mutual press release announcing their differences have been resolved and they are all moving on as well as advocating for all parties to do the same.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Coach Howard fired.

What transpired was a very bad look for a program like Michigan.

    We'll see.......

Why in the hell would the assistant that got hit have ANY motive to apologize or smooth anything over for JH?!! Are you out of your mind?!!

I would be very surprised if JH is fired. I believe the delay is to provide enough punishment and control PR more than anything. I'll leave it at that.

If a coach hits or even verbally abuses his own players, he or she is fired fairly quickly now. We have seen this at many programs and most recently with the lady gator Basketball team. When a coach hits another coach and causes a melee by players from both teams, what happens to that coach? Especially when they don’t immediately apologize for their conduct?

Yea he’s too popular. Dude won a bunch of Coach of Year awards last year and got a 5-year contract extension. I can’t imagine they’ll let him go that quickly.

He's also a "Michigan Man" and that kind of garbage carries a lot of weight at Michigan.

I only said he should be included in the meeting since he was the recipient of the slap. I didn't say who apologizes to who. They can work all that out between themselves.

Unless you can supply the transcript and body cam footage who said what to whom and who laid their hands on whom, I'm not getting into anything other than they all need to get together and work it out - which certainly should include apologies.

Through all of this mess, I believe somewhere Howard said someone touched him and later he was defending himself. If that's the case and if he is not fired, I believe the Big 10 should step in and say that after any future games all teams playing against a Howard coached team should not engage in a handshake line. Otherwise this good sportsmanship of touching might set him off. I know that is being facetious but the Big 10 and Michigan will need to show procedural caution for any potential threat going forward. Its all a bunch of irrational thoughts from Howard shortly after the altercation but those words should matter as this gets reviewed.

There's a lot of ESPN snowflakery that slips into comments here. Nearly every major ESPN commentator blasted Howard immediately.

Folks can criticize ESPN for getting locked into their narratives, but at least avoid getting locked into your own. Just my $0.02.

Apparently can coach in the Big Ten & NCAA tournament. Pretty weak response, but they also did nothing when he went after a coach last year.
