Juwan Howard throws punch at Wisconsin coach

Sitting him 1-2 games not enough. He’s the leader of young men and sets example. They ( players) were admirable in comparison to him. He actually hit a coach which is illegal. Doesn’t matter if that is not who he was trying to hit.

 

Him Not apologizing……would have helped
Throwing a punch and striking another coach after several were trying to restrain him.

Big 10 will prob go 1-2 games and not send a message.

 

Seems like there are plenty of witnesses to corroborate or refute each coaches take of what happened. Interested in seeing how they dole out the punishment.

 

They're full of it if that's all he gets. Again, the punch might be new but being restrained by coaches is not for him. I'm good with a coach having a little fire and pushing boundaries but he seems a bit more than that.

 

24-48 and prob go 1 week like Davis said. I like rest of season. If he had not have gone after Turgeon last year I’d say 3-4 games. Watch the Turgeon video carefully. He’s having to be restrained multiple times.

 

Vitale, Greenberg, Katz, Cowherd, Digger Phelps, all day no way this is ok. Suspension coming. Digger even said “coach your team”! And “ you had a starter in with 32.4 seconds left, inexcusable”.

a little surprised coaching community and press going at him so hard. Warranted, but surprised. Vitale goes harder than just about anybody.

 

I agree with you on this. If this was the first incident and if he apologized immediately during the press conference, then I can see a long suspension as being adequate. But considering he did this last year, and he showed absolutely no remorse for lashing out like a child after the game, then I think they should throw the book at him.

Imagine if it was one of our coaches. I'd never want to be associated with that, nor appear to condone that kind of behavior. It's beyond ridiculous.

You are absolutely right.

Maybe worse than the punch is the fact that he seemingly feels justified.

 

It's not for me to take his job away, but this dude deserves all the negative attention that he gets with this one.

I read somewhere that the Big10 can only suspend for a maximum of 2 games so it will come down to the school to add additional time to that

 

Couldn't the Wiscy coach he slapped in the face file assault charges? I could see that being a problem for Howard.

Howard should be fired immediately. HE'S A COACH, not a player.
He's the leader, and the face of a great university. What an embarrassment.

There was an Oregon football player who punched another player post-game and he was suspended for the year.
And this was a PLAYER. Howard is a coach.

And yes, I thought Woody Hayes should have fired too in the 70s many times, before he finally hit the Clemson player.

 

Not a good look at all for Howard. Michigan will probably fire him. He'll probably go back to the NBA as an assistant coach.
