We just got 33 of 85 new players in 2024... so that's a lot of new players... more than 33% in fact.

33.88%? He was very close... more than he predicted.

With all due respect Rick, +10 points for scoring offense is a BIG ask. That would have put us top 8 last season. I think just get us to 32+ … that is the magic number that makes us competitive IMO. The real improvement has to come from the defense. Allowing 28+ just can’t be acceptable.

Then again, with the competition level this year …it’s all a tall ask. Maybe it’s scoring margin that we should look at …and +10 sounds about right. Whether it’s 45/35, 31/21 or 27/17, it should be considered a success.

Lots of questions. But thank Lord… only 105 days left to finally see happen. :)

I just want to look competent in all three phases and the following year we can try to be elite in something

Very fair assessment. Though I would rate LSU QBs under UF.

Lol... if I'm being honest then I would like 10 more points... Lol. But wanting it and expecting it are not the same thing.

If that's the case then it's closer to 50%... which is even more than Pate predicted.

The point is someone here thought 30% new player additions was too much, when it's actually more than was predicted by Pate.

Some people scoffed at the though of a 30% change in our team make up. It's tuned out to be far more if you're correct about the 41 new players number.

Don’t quote me on that, it may have beeen 41% or something. Pate I thought said 10-30% after spring which definitely didn’t happen in our case. Overall, sure

Yeah, but we might be splitting hairs here. The real poiint is someone thought 30% was way too much and that's not the case.

Now with that said, I like all the changes, most of them, I say most because we lost some a couple that we probably starters or close to it on the defense side of the ball. But I like the experience and the depth that we added. Plus, if Napier signed as much or more talent as he did last year, from the high school ranks, then that bodes very well for our overall SUSTAINABLE talent for the near future too. If our NIL plays along.

This. I thought Pate said 30% in the spring transfer portal. He was way off with regard to the Gators (thankfully).

Not to the degree that it looks overtly biased. Some of these guy won't even rank Mertz in the top ten in the SEC, and they disrespect ranking Lagway, our super-star in waiting, because he's not starting. Well... maybe those are just fans of other teams, but you know how that goes.

Some sports analyst could easily see LSU's QB a slight notch better, just not me. I think we have a better QB room than LSU. Any type of bias might be considering the fact that we have a brutal schedule, and they might be tempering their expectations from an expected/projected overall performance point of view... wins and losses in our 2024. Yes, it's wrong to judge our talent on a possible wins and losses record, but I said before that some human bias in unavoidable.

I think our defense will be improved this year with the transfers we brought in and more experience in the two deep, but we play five of the top 10 QB rooms with our tough schedule and Miami’s starting QB is one of the best also and Tennessee’s QB looks like he will be very good as well. So it may be hard to tell how much we’ve improved actually.

Yeah, scheduling 3 power 4 OOC teams was not a great idea, and the SEC added their icing on that cake as well making for a tough 2024 schedule.

I think Napier and company have a great opportunity to show the college football world just how much better the Gators are in this upcoming season. I hope they take full advantage of this schedule and spotlight, because you know that magnifying glass of, I told you so prognosticators, will be magnifying that spotlight brightly thought their lenses on this coaching staff.

I was surprised we didn’t lose a player or two to cash. Good job by Napier and our lockeroom.

We scheduled some good ooc games and that’s to be commended. I like watching competitive games. It was done however before the sec screwed us. If we had three cupcakes, it wouldn’t be all that tough though.

Me too. I wonder if we're set now, or are we looking at one or two more transfers before we're locked in for the season.

Mertz is dependent on our oline more so than a mobile qb would be. I’ll always favor the pocket passer and like the legs only as a backup plan. It’s no wonder that others are sket of his success as it is dependent on an oline that’s hasn’t proven anything. We have realistic hope that it will be much improved and Mertz will be a really good qb. We will see.
