(WBK) Jordyn Merrit Transferring

Yeah it's just odd. For example Kelly Rae on her account does tweet frequently but recently nearly every post has been about every other sporting team at UF except her own. And now you have Coach Assibey posting a "thank you Gainesville" tweet with no context other than it sure does appear from his Tweeter page he has moved on: https://twitter.com/JAssibey
Yet no official school announcement 6 hours later confirming whether in fact this has happened, so who really knows what is going on with him? Meanwhile, plenty of movement in the portal by other schools, but here is UF still needing to fill up to 40% of its roster going completely midnight. Certainly a different way to do business.

Between football, volleyball and now women's basketball there seems to be quite the Gainesville to Lincoln pipeline. For those involved I say, good luck with that!

 

Nina Richard's is coming back ?

 

I see the 23-24 roster is now up on the UF women’s basketball website and no longer lists Merrit, Deans, Richards and the Wyche sisters. Plus it shows one sophomore, 3 juniors and 5 seniors/5th years. Kind of a worrisome spread for the future?

 

Very worrisome, and one of the Juniors is a walk-on. Still time, but we definitely need some transfers this spring...and we need them to be underclassmen.

 

You guys worry too much. The roster has talent, particularly at the guard positions, and you ignore an incoming McDonald's All-American, just the 2nd in Gators WBK history. I fully expect Kelly Rae to bring in a couple of good transfers over the next month or two, including at least one big. And as we win, more transfers into the program will take care of itself. KR got it going.

Assuming Petticord or Kindred?

 

Well she holds her Highschool records for triple jump and long jump so I guess she has some “hops”

 

So the A & M boards are having the same conversations as we did on Fudge?
Hopefully she blossoms into a very good player for us.

 

Curious about what position she will be. The article about her signing says 6 ft Forward. Texas A&M listed her as a 5'10 Guard on their roster. Curious who else we target now. Kindred seems to be in the Warren mold of player. Don't think she moves the needle next season but does add some needed depth. We could go more 4 guard (I wish we had last season more) and get away with signing only one more post player and maybe one more guard... or if we want to continue trying to be bigger inside I could see us needing 2-3 F/C.

 

Hope so.... just don't see the talent available for the fix BUT the portal is still seeing entrants so definitely still some opportunities there.
