Johnson set to oppose Santos' expulsion

Santos even stole from fellow Republican members. The vote on expulsion is happening now. Someone please explain why Democrats are voting NOT to expel him. Use small words so I can understand

 

It’s unreal, but a number of dems voted no last time as well. So unless the dems are 100% this time, can’t claim it’s just partisan.

Hopefully they get this turd out of there regardless of the sorry “leadership”.

He has now officially been expelled. It was not close. 311 votes to expel (needed 290).

It didn’t make much sense to want to keep him. Dude’s an embarrassment for the GOP and a lame duck. If anything, keeping him around would have been a favor to dems. You’d think that embarassment would trump the value of one vote, but I guess not.

I know the guy refused to resign, but I wonder how much those GOP “leaders” even pushed for that? The reality is it never should have taken a vote, he should have been “asked” to resign by leadership. If he refused, they needed to 100% vote against him. Yes, it’s that simple.

I agree with Johnson. (Gasp!) Although Santos has no business in Congress, breaking precedent can come back to bite you. He will be gone soon anyway.

 

Just saw he was expelled. Given the unanimity, I’m okay with it. Surprised though. Defeat for Johnson.

 

Probably because that seat had been a democrat's seat, and they think they can take it back, if there is a special election... not sure if there will be.

 

Santos just announced that he retired because he's taking a better job, as the Gator's OC ...

 

At a minimum, our ability to deceive defenses should improve greatly.

I’m gonna have a hard time going with this - but admittedly I obviously don’t know. Seems like reducing the narrow Republican majority by one vote would be the play here not to mention ousting a throughly corrupt member from the House.

All about power. Johnson could give two shits about any of the rest of it. If Santos had a D after his name, Johnson would be leading the charge to kick his sorry ass out. Yes, Menendez should go too.

 

No doubt Santo is a piece of crap, but opening of the can of expulsion is a can no one will be able to close. But as stated above, with vote being 311 to expel, the precedent may not be as damming for down the road.

 

We'll be able to steal all the defensive signs with ease.
