At first I thought it was about Congressman John Lewis but then I saw the name of the OP and realized that could not be true

I was actually surprised to see the cowboy didn't change the lyric "I work in the market as a check out girl" when he sang it ... damn transgenders ...

The reverence to Chapman was really great. And the performance reminded how wonderful her voice really is.
Joni Mitchell's performance was pretty special and emotional for a lot of people, too.

    lol

I’m trying to self learn the guitar. A popular song from my generation is Bobby MaGee. The notes are easy to play. I changed the words to Bonnie MaGee.

Does that make me a bad person?

    Ouch, that hurt.

Fwiw Joplin is my all time favorite female singer. I’ve read a few books about her life. Great reads. She was something else, free spirit, and one of a kind voice.

Hope you know I was kidding.
Janis was truly a force of nature. I actually saw her live once.
Me and Bobby McGee came out and went No. 1 after her death.

Personally, I lean more toward Kristofferson's version. His first album is full of masterful songwriting.

Also, as I'm sure you've found out, the best way to master a new chord is to learn a song with that chord in it.

Yes I knew you were kidding as was I.

I’ll listen to K first album. Haven’t heard it from what I remember.

I tend to focus on the songwriting too much, I suppose. That's always first ....
