So how about 15-16 starters at FSU all from portal? Not spot fillers. Ole Miss with over half starters from portal? Not spot fillers. I could name you 80 portal transfers that are not spot fillers. That depends on the philosophy of the coach and the school as to whether or not they go for really good guys. Remember, Billy has a lengthy evaluation process that often caused us to miss out. As far as buying into the program… Right now, I would say that’s not happening. I say that because I’ve seen many that seem to be jogging or running at half speed when they could help out with a play somewhere.
They are about to lose about 12 starters after this year. Their last few recruiting classes have not been good so they are going to have to hit the portal hard again.
Arkansas got blasted at home by an average Auburn team and lost at home scoring 3 points against a bad MSU team.
They will and do it well if you’re talking about FSU and they are recruiting at a very high level now. There’s a chance we lose one of our best defensive line recruits to them in the next week or two.
Then you have the ones that do well in the portal which equates to big time win totals like FSU, which then allows them to recruit well like they are this year.
He needs to be better in the portal. I agree with some of the things you say, but many other teams are doing great with the portal and it is affecting their WinTOTAL in a positive way. If he’s not matter in the portal next year, it will be a very long year
To be honest, I'm not sure. I found this guy for the analytics crowd that understands these things better. I do know his big point was that dot graph showing the REAL difference makers aren't so much blue chip players as the elite blue chip players. LSU is a talented roster though. I wouldn't expect less overall talented than Florida but I could be wrong.
my biggest fear is we get mauled in the next two games and our few stars go to the portal and our recruiting class falls apart. Then we have to go to the portal and who would want to come to a losing team?
Michigan St used that theory I believe. Wonder how it’s working out for them. Hey thanks for the concern yesterday. I got back on my anti sarcasm meds. Waiting for them to kick in.
Each situation is unique. Name coaches who have taken over a roster with so many holes, a crap culture cultivated by the prior coach who had smoke and mirrors recruiting “success” taking guys he knew wouldn’t qualify, leaving an unbalanced roster..and have won more than 6 and 5 games in his first two seasons?
If you aren’t going to contribute to the threads and discussions don’t be a loser that just drops disagrees and bacon. At least have the balls to counter. Pathetic.
And we should’ve beaten them, but we couldn’t hold serve. No excuses for losing to Arkansas. We thought the team turned a corner against USCe, but nope. At some point, the team has gotten to play to win and not this playing not to lose stuff.
The last two games of the year, can we please play Jakeem Jackson and Dijon Johnson at CB? They can't be that far off from Kimber and Marshall. Let's get them ready for next year.
Talent acquisition & talent development business. We have zero players on D who would be starters or likely in the 2 deep at GA or Bama. Read that again!!! The young guys are just young and were playing high school football a year ago. Mullen and portal guys haven’t played up to what we needed of them plus the mass exodus on D during the transition season. Patience, season 3 will be the jump in consistency and wins Gator Fans were hoping to see this year.
