I totally agree, that's why the portal should be used as an augment and not as a sustainable strategy for building a program... something that you would have to spend ton$ on year after year. I, instead, like the way that Napier is building our program, but patience is key to this rebuild.
I think FSU just jumped UF in recruiting with UF’s latest flip? Even if they didn’t they are still doing well in recruiting and on the field. Sooo
Yep. I still think the formula holds: recruit at least three top-5 classes in a row to get into the national championship, or recruit three top-10ish classes in a row to be a perennial contender. On top of that, recruit a decent transfer class through the portal each year to fill in the gaps. UGA consistently recruits high school kids at a top-5 ranking but its transfer classes are ranked between 50 and 100. FSU has been swapping top-15/top-25 high school recruiting and top-25/ top-15 transfer classes and might be on the verge of a breakthrough.
It’s one year.. and in a year that they are having great success . Norvell has not built a solid base of recruited talent. And also hasn’t shown he can do it year after year after year.. some of y’all just look for reasons to be pessimistic . We all knew that UF needed to be burned down and rebuilt. Some of y’all act like that could be done in two years and still be done well So it’s long lasting . Give Billly time to build his team his way. It worked for Saban. It worked for Smart. It worked for Harbaugh.
No one is questioning the rebuild we are just seeing coaching issues. The talent/youth excuse is getting old. It’s okay to be critical. I know next years excuses for poor play will be a tough schedule.
Alright I’ve changed my mind Let’s fire everyone.. leadership starts at the top.. Hire new coaches and start over. Then in 3 years fire them and start over when they don’t win the SEC East. Then.. We can just be UTenn.. OR We can have some patience, let the process work and let the coach build his team…
man these kids have been playing football there whole lives and we’re 10 games into the season. And we have a lot of players who have been in college for more than 3 years who actually play: Mertz Pearsall Leonard Kingsley Princely Sapp Wingo Kimber Hill George without the covid added years, THOSE guys are redshirt juniors or true seniors. That “we’re young” excuse gotta stop
I agree but how many of those older guys do you consider high end SEC starters? Mertz? Leonard? princely? Wingo? kimber? George?
We started two true freshmen at safety. And young is in experience and in the rotation. There’s no way these guys should be getting significant minutes at this early of a stage of their careers. Look at the two deep. Do you trust most of these players to play consistently at a high standard? Do these guys even know the standard?
i think Mertz, Leonard (when healthy), Mazz, and Princely are high end SEC players. I was speaking more from an experience standpoint than a talent standpoint.
