Norvell has a contract that pays him 8 million a yr and runs through 2029. It would take another Jimbo contract to pull him away.
I think Texas A&M has proven they aren't afraid to spend money. At this point it's just a matter of is Norvell their guy and will he come. Money isn't an issue in any coaching negotiation for Texas A&M
Norvell is Jimbo 2.0. If he's smart and is offered, he needs to take the TAM job. His stock is at its peak. He won't reach that dollar amount at SOW.
I agree. I was just pointing out what A&M would have to do to lure any top coach. Large contract that is fully guaranteed, they set a precedent with Jimbo's contract.
I could see Kalen DeBoer leaving UW for TAMU. Michael Penix Jr is definitely NFL bound and there’s no assurance that a QB behind him will produce results as he has. Plus some big money in a better year round climate can talk very loudly.
If their next coach gets Jimbolike money, they'll invest about half of our projected expenditures for our stadium renovations, etc. for two head coaches. One of which has been an abject failure.
Not just the largest buy-out in history...it's DOUBLE the previous record. Imagine a world where fiscal discipline reigns and contracts run to completion. Where fans don't scream "Pull up the Brinks truck!" to every savvy agent who has the program over the barrel, because some fans/boosters have pitchforks and quick triggers. I hope that's the world with Napier. I want to believe that, for once, slow/right beats quick/wrong.
I love how everyone was saying Jimbo hiring an OC (especially someone as highly regarded as Petrino) was a brilliant coup. How’d that work out?
