Biden did this publicly because that right-wing, corrupt asshole Netanyahu has repeatedly thumbed his nose at us when we asked him to exercise some restraint and stop committing war crimes. Israel isn't entitled to our weapons and aid. As long as they refuse to respect our requests of restraint, we should withhold weapons.
I think that he's actually serious. Although a different topic he supports the impeachment of Merrick Garland over his failure to comply with a subpoena and he most likely supported the impeachment of Alejandro Mayorkas although I do not recall whether he actually addressed that issue on this board.

I disagree in that Israel is not US’s puppet. I also disagree because Johnson was able to get Ukrainian money pooled with Israeli aide, but Biden flipped his middle finger at Johnson after he finally got the aide packages passed. Biden is acting out of his own political survival, and his actions are not saving him.
Last I checked, Biden is not prosecuting Israel’s War. And, again, Johnson went way out on a limb to stretch across the aisle and reach a bipartisan aid expenditure package for both Israel and Ukraine. Biden, IMO, acted solely to secure a small group of Michigan voters, and in so doing he has alienated a significant group of independent/moderates. It was a terrible political move by him, and a thoughtless military strategic move.
Sanders is a cultural Jew. He's an atheist, but has Jewish family and heritage. He's also not wrong. If Israel is committing war crimes with weapons we are supplying, why should we continue to supply them weapons? It's one thing to defend yourself. It's another to target innocent civilians.
A lot more people than a small group of folks in Michigan are frustrated with Israel's actions and support Biden telling them to knock it off. He's tried asking them nicely, and they gave us the middle finger. We should not be giving Israel weapons if they're going to ignore our requests not to use them for war crimes. Last I checked, that's the bare f'ing minimum we should expect as principled humans.

Biden hasn't abandoned Israel. He wants to abandon Netanyahu, the ally of Putin, Orban, Trump and other fascist "leaders."
