Of their entire starting offense only 2 are younger than a RS JR. That's the wr hill and Keon Coleman who is a JR. Wilson is a RS JR. The Entire offensive line is all RS JR or RS SR's. Starting RB's Benson and toafili are RS JRs , Qb is 6th year SR, both starting TE are Rs JRs.

It's the same way when you look at the defense. Verse, akeem Dent Rs Jr or Sr. Their team is like the opposite of our with regards to age.

Why do you assume Lagway is a better QB than Kromenhoek? Is Max Brown demonstrable better than Glenn or Duffy?

The only known quantity that is likely return at QB for either school is Mertz and he has one year left.

Have you been following Lagway's trajectory as a QB in high school? Right now he's way better than he was last year, and right now he, IMHO, is the best high school QB in the nation.

And if you watch him play you would probably agree with me on that. He's killing it against the close to best competition in Texas high school football.

His numbers are all far better than his numbers were last year, and no one in high school is even close to him in the classification of football that he plays in.

You will see... and he's only getting better.

Haven’t really followed any of these guys. Don’t really care about high school stats as these kids are supposed to put up big stats. They are the best players on the field. The question is if their game translate to college and they can handle all that goes with it.

As you pointed to Lagway play this season, I could point to his elite 11 performance against other P5 players. Kromenhoek finished ahead of him. You could say the Elite 11 is not real football. There is just no substitute for having them actually on campus and playing against other P5 kids day in and day out.

I do not want to come off as poo poo-ing Lagway because I’m not. He could end up being a Hiesman trophy winner and winning a NC for all I know.

The point is that you never know with these kids until you get them on campus. This why having multiple QBs in the room is so important as it is more likely that one of them will work out.

It's not only the stats, it's the way he DOMINATES his opponents. He is the real deal.

I cosign this whole post. I think Lagway will be great at UF but we won’t know until 2027 how it all worked out

While I agreed with your post, in terms of “known quantity” returning, Lagway really does appear to be the real deal.

I’m sure they will look to sign an experienced QB that will compete for the starting job immediately.

Sorry to break it to you, but Lags competition hasn’t been the greatest.

Left out Fabian Lovett at DT used up all eligibility.

Not sure on Johnny Wilson going pro this year. He has been hurt a lot and has missed around 4 games. I think it is likely 50/50 depending on his draft grade and NIL deal.

Based on this talk of QB’s, I went back and looked at the QB rankings for about the last 10 years. One thing leaped off the page, the QB class of 2018.

    1. Lawrence
    2. Fields
    6. Dorian Thompson Robinson
    10. Matt Corral
    47. Sam Hartman
    49. Will Levis
    50. Brock Purdy
    53. Zack Wilson
    54. Cam Rising
    59. Jordan Travis
    61. Michael Penix Jr.

Ended up being a very talented class.

As do all winning teams. Reload is the difference.

"Reloading" is usually done by Good recruiting year after year. Hasn't been proven a team can load up successfully every off season. my point to that poster was he asked who they were losing I simply provided him with some specifics

They are losing a ton and haven’t recruited with the elites. They need more portal and my guess is that the portal is expensive . Proven players have a price tag.

Lol... sure, Tommy. The competition looks far better than the midgets that Manning was playing against in high school. He couldn't play better in practice than he plays in games. What he does is hard to do against children, much less Texas high schoolers.

But you are right... he's not beating the very best teams in Texas, but his team is in the second most populous level in the state, I do believe. Which means he's still playing against the second hardest competition in the state of Texas... His team is in 5A not 6A.

High school football: 5-star QB DJ Lagway continues impressive 2023

2020-2022 UIL Reclassification and Realignment Information — University Interscholastic League (UIL)

In the 2018–2019 school year, there were 2,090 students enrolled at Willis High School.

    Willis High School - Wikipedia

Yep, his competition is not too shabby... close to the every best in the state of Texas.

FSU has proven to be the best program in the country at portal recruiting to meet needs. They have started them as well. No reason to believe they won’t do so again

Agreed, and they really needed it to be successful. I can name another Florida team that appears to need an influx of experienced portal talent to be more competitive.
