Semantics. He was deployed to Italy as part of “operation enduring freedom” which was part of the war. He carried a weapon there. He never said he was in battle or that he fought. His statement was completely true and you’re grasping.

 

You lovingly support a guy who knowingly accepted help in an election from Russia.....but you want to nitpick the service record of someone ELSE?

Tim spent 25 years in the military reserves and they have one quote talking about banning assault riffles and a made up narrative on his retirement that doesnt fit the facts of timing. They think repeating a lie over and over and over and over and over and over will make it true. It wont. But every second of time they spend speaking to their own base about nonsense like this that doesnt resonate with the swing voter is another second lost. Keep it up morons.

 

I mean even if he did blatantly lie about his service (which he didn’t) I wouldn’t expect that to resonate with people very much. Politics have come a loooooong way since Kerry got swiftboated. For example: the GOP nominee raped a woman and is a convicted felon. “Stolen valor” doesn’t hit like it used to. Especially when it’s largely bullshit.

 

Agree with one small change:

 

And the guy he supports 1) dodged the draft with phony bone spurs, 2) called fallen warriors "suckers", 3) mocked families of fallen soldiers, 4) mocked a true war hero by saying "I like people who don't get captured", etc. etc. etc.

Well, OEF was in Afghanistan... not Italy. He deployed to Italy in support of OEF. No one carried weapons in Italy. As I shared in my post, I'm not saying it; ex-military are saying it. Looking forward to your uplifting Walz poem. It's due on Friday.

Obviously, I don't know if he's right or wrong. But I would point out that Teirab is a Republican running for Congress.

 

Why was he deployed then if not as a part of OEF? Even if it was as a supporting role he was sent there as a part of OEF. And he 100% had a weapon with him like all American soldiers do. But keep grasping.

Not taking anything away from Vance but I distinctly recall Al Gore being bashed for using this photo in an ad because he was journalist when he was deployed to Vietnam not a combat infantryman.

Seems that you're doing the same considering that Vance was in public affairs and probably never came under fire in Iraq although everyone deployed to the country was in potential danger. While I admittedly haven't read the book Vance was quoted in Hillbilly Elegy (paraphrasing) as saying that he considered himself lucky that he was in a position in which he would not actually be involved in combat when he was in Iraq.
