Rap explicitly glorifies violence and crime all the time. We're supposed to ignore that while simultaneously digging for evil "hidden messaging" in an Aldean song condemning violent crime and rioting. If we're just taking the messages at face value, Aldean's song promotes a better message than like 90% of rap songs. Period.
Lol. If the standard for lyrics now is that they can only describe legal activity, boy oh boy, we're in for a radical change in the music industry.
Good for you. I really don't care if you listen to Beethoven, Eminem, Machine Gun Kelly, or Tupac... just leave others' music alone.
You mean nobody knew it was a lynching site until some guy on the internet pointed it out, then everyone pretended like they always knew it was a lynching site? Totally not an internet move. Nevermind the fact that if you interview a random college student on the spot, they probably can't name what decade WWI happened, or how many rights are in the Bill of Rights... but they do know that there was a lynching at this random courthouse in Tennessee 96 years ago.
Here's the thing... I won't deflect and I won't point at the other side to address an issue with my side. This thread isn't about rap, but since we now have to talk about rap, I'll say this. Rap music does tend to glorify violence, crime, and many negative behaviors. Period, full stop. Does this satisfy you? I wonder why it's so hard for some people to do. You can disagree with the depiction of Aldean's song without having to bring up rap music.
Aldean’s song a actually kinda sux. Apropos for a couple of reasons. 1st, someone upthread sprayshot TDS stupidity about Trump supporters n racism, and 2nd, bc I was following up on @Gator715 's point about how racist it is to equate black with criminal. ...it conjured up the racist POS y'all elected POTUS.
Yes, for that reason I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at the people demanding an apology from Aldean on one hand, while blasting Eminem's "Kim" on the other, or DMX, or Jay-Z, or countless other rap artists who have glorified wanton violence and rape.
Biden has nothing to do with this country artist being a scumbag. Typical deflection from the usual contingent.
Aldean’s song just isn't that good, but I'd file it as a lame attempt to stake a claim to this: ...while being a small city upper middle class suburban guy ( and lacking any of the humor in this song). Fwiw.
Some comedian has a bit on this sort of thing. People mad about R-Kelly, getting angry when people play any of his songs, then blast Michael Jackson in the car on the way to work. Egotistical sanctimony is a Hell of a drug. Conservatives can and have fallen into that trap, too, but we're living in times where the traditional is now the counter-culture and the taboo is the culture.
Neither did Trump.... ...and Biden is way more racist than Jason Aldean. So can we at least agree that Biden is therefore a scumbag?
Because in their usual brand of whataboutism, they can’t stand to see their boy Aldean taking the heat, so they bring up music from another genre from 30 years ago to deflect. LOL
So the production company releases official statement and says they have produced videos for Carrie underwood and Kenny chesney and aldean did not select the site. They also made a point that slater from saved by the bell filmed a scene there as well as Hannah Montana and that the location is popular due to its proximity to Nashville.
Who is asking you to ignore rap? industry taking on rap: Bobby Shmurda Says Hip-Hop Has Become Dangerous: "I Don't Listen to Rap"
That song/video was funny but not quite sure why. Am I laughing with him or at him. With him me thinks.
