Judging from my very limit d experience … I’ve had two places used in movie/ videos/
They do little to zero research. Why would they. They are scouting for a particular “look”
and feel. They roll up and see if it fits the narrative/ story they are telling, ask for permission to use your property and explain the use and the shots they want and then move on.

You know it truly wouldn't have mattered where they shot the video, those wackos on the left would still have been triggered

I like Trampled by Turtles, they had a pretty popular song called "Alone". If you like them you should try Apache Relay, they are pretty good too.

Yeah, there’s still plenty of very good music being made in all genres, I think.
And plenty of old music that we can still discover or dig a little deeper into.

I think it's odd that they chose this song to ban. I can think of a dozen country songs that condone murder. The Night the lights Went Out in Georgia, Thunder Rolls Red Headed Stranger are three that even non country fans might know.

Blake Shelton has a chain of live music venues named Ole Red. In the song the protagonist murders his wife for cheating and escapes from prison with the help of a dog named Red. He chose a wronged spouse who gets away with murder as his theme.

The Banks of the Ohio is almost a century old and has been recorded by dozens of country and folks singers. Dude asks for a women's heart she refuses so he murders her. Despite her telling him she wasn't ready for eternity he follows through. He literally condemns his "love" to hell.

Assuming murder is still wrong, if the CMT wants to play moral abiter they have a lot of banning to catch up on. And that's just murder. Think of all the other sins to ban.

I don't watch CMT and don't know what sorts of songs or videos they show or promote versus those they choose not to. One issue may be that the song and video here aren't fictionalized stories but depict real events and people in a politically-charged context and suggesting what would/should happen if it happened elsewhere. Some may interpret it as promoting a vigilante style of justice with people taking the law into their own hands. If a left-wing artist came out with a song and video about taking out MAGA protesters/rioters, would CMT run that? I don't know but think it's a better analogy.

Hey, you don't hang a man for killing a woman who's trying to steal your horse ...

but you do for killing’ the man who stole your water - unless the hangman isn’t hangin’. Then they put you on the street. So you go back, Jack, and do it again.

[That was] the tale of the red headed stranger
And if he should pass your way
Stay out of the path of the raging black stallion
And don't lay a hand on the bay

Obviously, nothing wrong with a good country song about adultery (no!) and personal vengeance. Just like a good movie. I've got a song about a deputy sheriff (in Sweetbriar, Arkansas) who's carrying on an affair with the wife of a man whom he arrested for burglary ("Hands up, boy," said the deputy, "it's the long arm of the law"), the man being now in prison. And the man (who's singing the song) escapes from prison for one purpose (or two):

    He'll die as he holds
    In Sweetbriar, Arkansas
My babe and she'll be dying in
Them wrong arms of the law

I guess in fairness, it was a little dramatic of them to announce that they weren't going to play a specific video when they rarely play videos anyway and no one would have noticed its absence.

I'm a very big Trampled fan. They knock that modern bluegrass vibe out of the park.
