I think you are misunderstanding the nature of my question. While of course I do think we should try to be respectful to one another, if youve decided that several posters no longer deserve respect, then that is your decision. I know that you feel attacked by several posters, and I understand your desire to retaliate.

However, among the central reasons we come here (I think) is for argument and information. Your post contained neither. I am not here to jump on you. I was thinking that we all at times respond in ways we didn’t intend, and it’s good to have friendly reminders. If I am wrong on this and you want TH to be a forum for insult exchange, I apologize and I won’t bother you about this again.

The media constantly turns things like an assault into a beating....It makes no difference what that assault is, it could be as minor as a touch or a tap on the shoulder but when CNN, MSNBC or NYT get hold of it it becomes a beating.
