What I want to know if this is of an area where they thought nothing was there like with the Hubble Deep Field
FYI.... the circular "smears" you see in the middle are actually galaxies far, far away that are magnified via gravitational lensing from an intermediate cluster of galaxies. Computers will be able to reconstruct those smears into actual representations of the shapes at that time.
I think this area was chosen because of the lensing opportunity mentioned in my preceding post. Lensing gives us the greatest reach in time.

As I said he had NOTHING to do with the James Webb Telescope and all the money and scientists that worked so hard for years to bring that picture to us all...

The NASA director, Bill Nelson, was nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate. It is more than appropriate for the President to reveal one of the first pictures from the new Webb Telescope.
I don't mean to wet any blankets, and I'm a supporter of NASA and space exploration in general, but did we just spend $10billion to go from 480 to 720? I will assume the JWST will be providing more value than this.

that was before politics was a hate sport though. Back when people could still respectfully disagree and stillr each a compromise.
