Good choice if playing time is your goal. Pretty much guaranteed to start when you are the only one on the team.
Now would be a good time for the NCAA to ban LSU from any postseason play for 3 years. Like they used to when they had real teeth.
A few years ago, I was in O'Hare airport and sat down next to a very large man whose son was obviously a college ball player. They were on the phone discussion some ins & outs of a college football program. After the call, I nosed my way into a conversation with the father, by the name of Al Harris. "Big Al" was a defensive end for the Chicago Bears who opted to sit out the '85 season (I think this was contractual). Despite this unfortunate decision, Harris is a GREAT person, beloved in the Chicago community and was very cordial in our conversation. The son was considering a transfer to Adazzio's program, which I think was Temple? In our brief conversation, I had to correct Big Al, who was under the impression that Adazzio was a defensive coach. I explained that he was an OL coach who took over the OC gig at Florida. I left it at that.
Good point. I was going to poo-poo the decision, but it seems that they got a good coach and as you say he will get plenty of opportunity.
respectfully disagree. The baddies are all gone and the ncaa would be punishing people who had nothing to do with Wade's mess. If Reed didn't want to be a Gator and bring his talents to a superior institution . . .
Based on '84 & '90, the NCAA specializes in punishing people who had nothing to do with violating the rules. However, LSU will probably completely skate the NCAA somehow. As for Reid & Reneau, can we still say, 'If you are not a Gator then you must be GatorBait!'
$Money$ nil gone astray…………. I knew our new coach with the administration being ultra conservative, would have trouble getting recruits we would need. This won’t be the last if we don’t get serious with the NIL. I hate seeing the top sixty recruits in high school signing with everybody else. Let’s stop the bleeding, just talking to them about being a top fifty public education and engaging them about how we would use them, doesn’t work anymore. The top players will listen then tell the media who their top three are, we won’t be mention. Here’s the memo to Todd! We had a coach here who thought that, didn’t work.
We are spending nil money on players. This kid is somewhere around #75 on the composite rankings. He might turn out to be great, but in the footage I saw of him, I would characterize him as a horizontal player rather than a vertical player. Fudge is a vertical player. If we get Broome and Kugel, I will be singing hallelujah. I like Aberdeen and the 3 portal players we already have. I also like that we have kept 6 players. Golden has also assembled a terrific staff. Things are going well right now.
For sure. The Gators have taken some lumps and other schools have probably taken lumps that we as fans forget about. I've always felt, though, that residual players/coaches shouldn't bear the brunt.
You think the baddies are all gone? They're not. The AD and president kept Will Wade going and protected for years after it became known about "big ass offers" and FBI investigations. They knew all about it and they still run the show. It's a corrupt athletic department and administration.
I agree that the team and coaching staff so far.is great. But this is where CMW got stuck every year and then filled the team with reaches. As we speak, other coaches are trying to find out how much NIL is on the table and will try and upset the apple cart. I guess we will find out about if we have moved the needle to get the top players to fill out the team.
Kugel is the key pickup, to me. How realistic are our chances, though? His last post was this, but I hope he’s not trying to pull a troll job on us. Seems to be all the current rage to act like you’re going one place then surprise surprise… going to their rival now.
It's never worked like that, though. If they want to change the way schools are punished, they need to announce it ahead of time. LSU is grandfathered in to the current system of punishment as it stands. That means lodi dodi, everybody. Whole program gets it.
I'm suggesting that the accountability be attributed to responsible parties and not those who were in no way responsible. I agree that the ncaa hasn't historically administered sanctions that way, but it doesn't make it right. Can you clarify what you mean by grandfathered in?
We not fixing to let LSU get off with just punishing the President and former coach when everyone else gets the whole program put on postseason bans and probation. That's not how it worked before, so unless it's formally announced ahead of time, they shouldn't get less sanctions. Grandfathered in means they are already bound to the old/current laws.
