The underlying issues demand swift and severe consequences. Kid deserves what is coming if the report holds true.

 

It's crazy how a life can be ruined so quickly by a stupid decision, especially when you're young. He might go to prison and never play another down of football over this, which is kinda incongruous to me since there are so many players in football that have raped or sexually assaulted others and are still on the field.

 

Holy Cow! AR's status will have a fundamental impact on this team going forward. I dont see how Kitna recovers from this.

It's all abuse, so really no way to differenciate morally. Evidence is usually much more airtight in one type over the other. Perfect world they all would face appropriate consequences if guilty.

 

I don't think it is "a" stupid decision. Being curious about kiddie porn is what would be stupid. Seeking it out is sick. Saving images and ultimately redistributing them = criminal. And that's the end result of a series of decisions, each one worse than the prior.

What's a shame, beyond the very real exploitation of the victims, is how this is going to tarnish UF's image.

 

Agree, and well said in the fist paragraph. But, I don’t see how this damages UF’s image. To my knowledge there were no red flags or coddling behavior from the staff/team leading up this. It appears to come completely out of left field. In other words, this isn’t a Hernandez situation. It happened. We gathered facts. And reacted accordingly… and did it swiftly.

 

He will still be innocent until proven guilty. When you’re arrested, he will be arrested on have to go to an arraignment (he might even be able to make bail before arraignment depending on when it’s scheduled) then he will plea and then trial and yes, technically we are supposed to presume him innocent until proven guilty but the school can do what it wants. They are not bound by any rules other than their own. This is not FSU.

 

I don’t feel sorry for him. He made his bed but I do feel sorry for his parents.

While unknown the later is unfortunately much more likely than the former. Whoever he sent these to immediately reported it so must have recognized it as illegal. Discord forwarded to NCMEC who then referred it to the police. NCMEC almost exclusively deals with true child pornography and not borderline teen adults.

 

Maybe since it's been so long, the severity of the infraction increases the longer the time between arrests.

I agree, but you're getting very specific that he was curious about that kind of porn (trying to stay off a list here), consciously sought it out, and looked for others to share it with. We don't know that level of detail. It'll come out in court.
