    ...even if he loses soundly.

Tucked in with all the racism at Sunday's Nazi rally, Trump snuck in mentioning that he and the House Speaker have a plan to take office even if unearned.

When your choices are the presidency or dying in prison, an electoral trouncing is just a blip on the road.

He will burn this country down to save himself, don't be fooled. He has no love of country, only love of self. Everyone should be prepared for what follows a week from Tuesday.

Our only hope may come down to Joe Biden having the guts to use his presidential immunity to do what might need to be done to block his plans.

“The former president, who is deadlocked in the polls with Kamala Harris, has spent months priming his supporters to believe the only way he could lose is through fraud.

The effort to try to subvert the outcome is more thought-out, more strategic, more organized, more coordinated in 2020,” said Sean Morales-Doyle, director of the voting rights program at the Brennan Center for Justice.

After those suits are filed, Trump could move on to trying to stop certification of the vote at the local level. Long a little-followed process of elections, certification takes place at the local and state level to officialize vote totals after all of the ballots are tallied. Local boards – often staffed with party loyalists or little-known government officials – are responsible for undertaking this task, and generally do not have discretion not to certify.”

The big lie 2.0: Trump plan to subvert 2024 election more organized than ever | US elections 2024 | The Guardian

They will stop at nothing including violence.

One of the speakers Sunday talked about killing people opposed to him.

I have no problem believing that many of the MAGA supporters, including the King Bonehead himself, will act like babies if they lose on Election Day, just as you suggest.

Now assure me that, in the less likely scenario that Trump wins, the Democrats will accept the election results in good grace, like adults. Assure me we will see no court challenges, no mass protests against democracy, and no wailing and/or gnashing of teeth about the Electoral College.

That's as stupid a statement as saying that because Hillary whined on election night about 2016 and then conceded the next day is the same thing as MAGA organizing 1/6 to keep Trump in office.

Whining about a result you don't like is the right of any American voter. A multi-track plot to overthrow results you don't like is not the same.

I didn’t ask for your assurance you wouldn’t whine. That would be like asking for your assurance that you won’t breathe, eat, shit, or sleep. I asked for your assurance that you would accept the election results in good grace like adults, which is precisely what you are preemptively accusing the Republicans of not doing. And I still have not heard that assurance, which suggests you think only side has to accept defeat in this election.

ABC had a really good segment on the election that basically said it is just a likely the election is an electoral landslide for Harris or Trump as it is for a close election. There is a good chance Trump gets blown out and claims fraud because the polls are close. Just as likely he wins that way as well.

We could go to the history books to see that the Dems have never tried to steal an election via violence. Can't do the same for the Pubs ... so forget your "both sides" crap.

It is just sickening to see this race close. Trump is a clear and present danger to what the US is and stands for. He has said he will use the military against the "enemy within". That should absolutely be disqualifying. But his MAGA morons just cheer and say bring it.

    Sickening.

Actually, what I am saying is that Trump and his allies have a plan to attain office even if he loses. I'm not talking about what his toothless hillbilly voters think on the subject.

You are talking about something entirely different. Go start a thread on it if that's what you want to discuss.

Yeah, until the Dems do what Trump and the Repubs did in 2020, there's no discussion here.

If Trump loses, but tries a coup, I have no problem with Biden using the military against Trump and anyone that wants to go down with him.

Aren’t we going to have to wait a couple of weeks, for Maricopa County to stop counting, before Trump goes Fourth Reich ?

    Agree.

NO ONE whines and cries about real or perceived setbacks like Donald Trump, a very weak, self-absorbed man-child.

There's also no comparison between a day of Hillary Clinton expressing concern about Russian interference (since proven) to Trump's years of whining and crying.

Uh huh. Sounds like a deflection rather than the simple assurance I was looking for. But I’ll do it myself anyway. I swear that no matter which one of these lamentably ill-suited individuals the American people choose to lead us through Constitutional means, I will stoically accept the election results, I will be loyal to the degree that the law requires, and I will confine my resistance to their policies I think are bad for this country. I will never challenge the legitimacy of their election.

I heard someone on one of the Sunday morning shows I believe say that the repugs are "flooding the polls". I had never heard about that before. They are essentially injecting overly one sided repug polls to make it look closer than it is. Has anyone heard of this kind of strategy?

Well, duh. Why would you have a problem with that? That would be President Biden’s duty. The only caveat I have is tasking the military with such a thing would be extremely premature. The law enforcement organizations of this country are wholly suitable to handle anything like you suggest.

    Good grace? No.

    Riot? I highly doubt it.

Take it better than MAGA? Quite assuredly. The difference between a party that wants to maintain (or try to hold onto) the status quo vs. a party that wants to torch everything and has a history of reacting poorly to bad news and rhetorical lies. Do the math.

Thanks for reminding me that our election system belongs in the 19th Century. Good Lord! It's 2024 people.

Yes, I’ve heard of it. Frankly, I don’t see the point if true, unless the point is to keep their side enthusiastic about the election so they don’t fail to vote. Otherwise, it’s precisely like artificially influencing the line of a football game by betting heavily on the underdog: the game is still decided on the field, not on who bets on what. So when Harris wins next Tuesday, would the game be to declare fraud based on the polling? That would, again, be like trying to assert the favorite only won big because they cheated, since the line indicated that the game would be closer. You would still need evidence of fraud for it to go anywhere, just like you would need evidence that the favorite cheated to win big. “But the polls …” would not have a decisive effect on the population. The polls were way off in 2016 and 2020, but I don’t remember anyone caring that much after the election was over, except for the statisticians who wanted to know why.
