You claim I have difficulty grasping the concept. Of course I would point out that I was originally responding to a poster that claimed the fault lay specifically with the scorpion task force.. I asked for any link or evidence that the task force (as a whole) singled out the victim to dehumanize him. My point.. from the beginning was that it was the five individual who dehumanized and the five individuals is where the fault lies. For some reason you jumped into that question with condescension and have yet to show that the task force is at fault vs the five individual operators. There has been no straw man.

Notice from the start I respond to Va .. who says the Scorpion Unit dehumanized Nichols. I didn’t argue with that take but asked for evidence that the UNIT dehumanized him. Then soho jumps in with the insults … I don’t need to seek help. I was asking for clarification. You offered none.

True, I was at the Gasparilla parade and the police started the parade with several military style troop carriers. WTF do they need these for? Do criminals now have shoulder fired rocket launchers. Take that money and give officers raises and better training. Maybe bonuses for good behavior.

On scene supervisor retired the day before he was expected to be fired and will collect full benefits. It's no secret that I am super critical of policing in this country. Stuff like this is one of the reasons why. It is systemic and shows no signs of changing. (I have yet another police post I've been debating on making. Yes, another. But it's worth it, IMO. I'll post it up after work)

Tyre Nichols case: Lieutenant retired before he could be questioned. It's legal : NPR

A lieutenant in the Memphis Police Department who was on the scene when officers beat Tyre Nichols to death was able to retire with full benefits, less than a day before he was expected to be fired, according to police documents.

However, the fact that Smith was able to retire early and keep his full benefits before going through an investigation hearing is precedented. In fact, it's a move that's far too common among law enforcement agencies across the country, experts say.

Smith was notified of the hearing on Feb. 22, and he submitted his notice of retirement on March 1, according to The Daily Memphian. The documents show that Smith had been charged with neglect of duty, as well as making unauthorized public statements and violating the department's policy on its use of body cameras.

Additionally, the documents show that Smith saw the injuries Nichols received from the five officers who beat him, but did not call for medical assistance nor did he ask questions about the use of force by the five officers.
