I agree with you, there needs to be a cap. The only issue, though, there will still be teams that will get around the cap!

Totally agree, there's too much hopping around. To do one year and move onto the next school seems like playing the system big-time!!!

"It's always been that way?" I never thought it was all about $$ in the 50's and 60's. I remember a sports writer losing his cookies because John Brodie got $200,000 in the early 70's!

People have become fans of players instead of teams to a degree

Donations to a non-profit are generally considered deductible to the extent that they exceed the value of the benefits received. Donations to Gator Boosters are around 80% deductible. That is why there is a challenge by the IRS.....because people are using their donations to these entities as deductions to their income tax.

Very much so with fantasy betting leagues driving a lot of the viewership

The only thing that could be capped is a salary, and you could only do that if you got the laws changed to let the schools make payments directly AND the players agree to a cba, which they have no reason to do right now. Still won’t be able to cap nil. The highest bidder issue will not be going away, sorry.

Of course the IRS is sniffing around the NIL. Have they ever missed a chance to collect more.

“Mystery and alleged deceit surrounding the NIL black market has been one of the biggest issues facing college sports since NIL launched in earnest in July 2021. Even 18 months later, there is little transparency when it comes to going rates for athletes in any sport. While some athletes have been able to profit off of a confused marketplace, many others do not have clarity when it comes to their market value or rights.”

NCAA approves new NIL guidelines, will create agent registry in effort to bring transparency to process

This definitely happened, by and large, to professional sports, and it is one of my fears for college as well!

I don’t mind contributing but I feel the hundred million dollars that they make up off of us fans should suffice.

It has no power. The sec and big10 do. If the NCAA tries to enforce anything those two can just host their own playoffs.

It's the NFC and AFC, playoffs and a super bowl under different names.
