The thing is that the Supreme Court has already ruled that a player's right to be compensated for his NIL cannot be limited. Any Control put into place would by its very nature limit the ability to earn NIL so you will likely never see this implemented unless the court's ruling changes at some point in time or some new legislation is created that regulates this activity (highly unlikely).

I'm good with NIL being around, the issue is tying it to a contract so the player can't just leave to go to say... UGA for example. Just like the NFL.

NIL contracts are not allowed to be tied to any specific school, playing time, or performance. The only thing that's going to limit movement is going to be the schools becoming employers and having the employees sign contracts.

But as long as fans are willing to pick up the tab, why would schools want to absorb the payroll.

The NCAA (the colleges) created their own mess when some braniac thought that it would be a good idea to give "limited" free transfers after the pandemic while trying to figure out this NIL mess they screwed the pooch on. As we all know a right once give is quite difficult to retract and sharpie lawyers are trying to entangle this free movement to the "right" of a player to earn NIL (like that really exists at all for about 99.9999% of athletes).

Everybody keeps saying the NCAA is a mess and they are right....but really what is the NCAA but a group of Colleges, so in reality its the Colleges and Universities that are a mess right now. Just like too many of our politicians they want rules for thee, but not for me.

They may be forced to. That won't really change who's actually paying the bills though. The third party money isn't going anywhere.

That's why there is no such thing as NIL contracts for 99.99999% of college athletes at the current time.

You can bet they won't force it on themselves and even the bozo's in Congress laugh at the NCAA every time they go up there whining about the current state of affairs. The only thing that will force it are the Courts because that is where this administrative NLRB re-definition of compensation garbage is headed....

The third party may continue to shell out millions in payroll or it could dry up considerably. It could get even more top heavy than it’s been and fans that haven’t won even their conference in twenty years may throw in the towel on the payroll. If that happens, and it’s UF, I’ll quit going to games and tuning in on Saturdays. Why watch something that has no hope of success. When fans viewership goes down, so does tv contracts. Boosters won’t continue to pay for failure either.. if it turns into a permanent five team race with no others in contention, it’ll start to fail.

I would tend to agree, but Big Ten Football has basically been a 2 team league for almost as long as I've been alive and they keep on keepin' on.

Yep, expectations tend to level and fans can still enjoy the success of their team. I loved going to UF games in the 70's despite some bad teams. I think most schools have a decent core fan base and of course the existing student body.....that probably can fill 2/3 of most stadiums. It's that final 1/3 you struggle with when losing and apathy sets in. But hisorically that's cyclical as well, new coach or promising QB and excitiement returns

A proposal that says UF should have employees that don't go to class and have no connection to the academic mission. That will indeed fix college football.

    True.

And an insult and affront to every person who is on scholarship for the purpose of scholarship.

Edit: also why I have previously given mad props to the players who have returned to finish their degree studies.

Ergo, high school athletes who are not football players should not play college sports because only 1 percent of sports fans care about them? Should they go to other schools if they hope to go to the Olympics?

Listen/ I love college football- fight songs, rivalries, loud stadiums, not -corporate seats- more than anyone… but be honest- you are not watching South Dakota state-Montana … those teams are not going pro,not getting NIL and are largely playing for “love of the game “… you’re not tuning in

Y’all are watching - Ole Miss vs Auburn. (Paid … have been for 20 years )
Bama -Georgia (paid… have been for 30+ years )
    Florida - FSU ($$$$!)
    Fsu -Miami ($$$$$ for 40)

get over yourselves. It’s an evolution of change which is painful. But these kids are gettin bags and always have been. It’s just going to be licensed. It’s not gonna ruin the game You’ve BEEN watching a paid game since ag least the 80s

I did come to the Tenn game last year and we looked like a decent team. I definitely tuned out of many games last year. It’s just like ruining a steak, I’m not eating that shit just because I paid for it.
