I will start by saying this is not meant to be inflammatory or a joke but as a serious question worthy of discussion. After last night there truly are two Americas. There is not one value or belief that all Americans share. Nothing to really bind Americans together. Is it not time to just admit that maybe party should come before country? That we have more in common with people who we agree with more than people who just share the same country?
Why do I post all of these photos? To prove my point. You say our side is racist. I'm guessing most of the MAGA supporters would gladly take these people in exchange for many leftist Americans. Of course those countries would never accept the exchange. I'll flat out say I have more in common with the people in these photos than the leftist American who lives down the street from me. I would gladly take these people in, especially in exchange for those countries taking some leftist Americans. Many of the picture in those photos love America more than the vast majority of leftist Americans. Is it time to just admit we flat out really don't like each other and therefore we have a country that is truly in a Civil War, even if no shots are being fired? How do you think a country like this will stand long term. Was there even anything about the speech that Biden gave last night that was in any way inspiring? I already have had the American flag upside down for several weeks. I thin the next act of quiet civil defiance is to stop standing up at the National Anthem. No reason to respect an anthem that someone like Biden will use to declare war against people like me who support MAGA. What are your solutions to the fact that there truly are two Americas now that genuinely hate each other. Is it truly time to put party over country?
He just proved there are also fascist supporting suckers in Brazil, Taiwan, and Japan…. So that means…. Wait… what does that mean?
Or, hear me out, stack or co-opt America's counter-majoritarian institutions and curtail/destroy its modicum of democratic processes to assure that you don't have to do that
When our very lives and what we genuinely believe in are at stake, relying on the ballot box isn't a genuine option any more. And even if it is. How are two Americas going to stand together when both sides hate each other? History shows that this type of scenario goes one of two ways. Either Civil War or one side is subjugated. That is why those of us who support MAGA hate RINO's. They refuse to even try to fight and they'll lie just to get elected. For many in the MAGA movement the RINO's and Fox News are nothing but controlled opposition. Americans genuinely can't agree on anything anymore. The broken Congress we currently have is a reflection of our broken society. That isn't going to be fixed at a ballot box. Let me ask you this, who do you think you have more in common with? A leftist with England, Canada or France or a MAGA conservative in America?
And why are Nationalistic impulses so bad to you? Why is it so wrong to want your elected leaders to put your country and its interests first? Why is it so wrong to want elected leaders to not apologize on the world stage when we've done nothing wrong? Anything to the extreme can be bad. But being a Nationalist, being proud of your country, is not a bad thing. America could use a little more nationalism IMO. But I'm sure that's something we would absolutely disagree about and neither one of us will change. You don't want America, you want a one world government. It's hard to reconcile when there's that much of a core difference which to me proves my point.
Nationalism isn't "being proud of your country" or pursuing a vague national interest. Its an ideology built on the idea that your nationality is somehow special or superior as compared to others, tied to blood and soil.
You don’t think Trump did anything wrong? He’s been called out by several republicans for all the things he did wrong, got Republican conviction votes In TWO impeachments, and may face criminal charges for a wide array of election rigging attempts, obstruction of justice, and stealing top secret documents…. Did nothing wrong… LOL….
I have many friends and family members who support MAGA. I don’t want to kill them, nor do I hate them. I just strongly disagree with them. I don’t want any liberal hoping to kill my relatives for their political views even though I am a liberal. In life, you don’t always get your way. But… everyone has a different limit of what constitutes a just cause for war. You seem to have reached your limit. I hope you take a few deep breaths and realize the good things around you that you can focus on, rather than a couple of political issues that, for the most part, do not affect how you go about your daily life.
This is no news flash. Anyone who has traveled and or reads a lot knows there are fascist tendencies in every country. It's always been below the surface here since the beginning of the Republic but has reared its ugly head from time to time. Now is one of those times. One thing is certain: you, and people like you, feel aggrieved to your core. Nothing will ever convince you that your anger is misplaced. Indeed, you seem to revel in it, and it prevents you, as anger often does, from thinking rationally.
Never said that. I don't think Trump is perfect. I think his biggest mistake was putting RINO's in key positions in the Executive Branch. RINO's who were always against him. Remember that the establishment Republican Party, the controlled opposition, hates Trump as well. That's why after Jan. 6th I left the Republican Party and will only return temporarily to vote for Trump or DeSantis. I also don't think he handled the pandemic particularly well. The messaging from the government should have been simple. Those 60 and over and those who are immunocompromised need to lock down. The rest of the country does not. The lockdowns were never going to work and should not have been enacted. I know Trump couldn't do anything directly but he should have pushed harder against the lockdowns.
