Until that first head-scratching loss, then we'll be asking if baseball season has started. I know, Debbie Downer, but I couldn't resist. Actully excited about this year's BBall team way moreso than the football team.
Yep - there are reasons the Gators were not predicted to be very good in football this season. Last night was ugly, but folks forget that Utah is a pretty darn good team. Hopefully the football guys pick up the pieces and win a couple unexpected games. In the meantime, when does basketball start?!
Well, a lot of the bad that happened last night was--and I shudder to say it--correctable. On the other hand, I didn't see anything from our offensive line that gives me much confidence. That's not nearly so correctable. That's a talent issue.
You wouldn't know it if you read the Gainesville Sun but the volleyball team beat #8 Penn State on a neutral court and swept #2 Stanford on their home court. They take on #5 Minnesota on Sunday at whatever they call the O'Dome now. And not long after that they host the current #1 Wisconsin. Talk about not being afraid of a difficult preseason slate for a young team. And so far they are killing it.
Just to be correct, we are an academic institution that likes to show off our sports acumen. So, the correct question is, is it "UF alumnus wins Nobel Prize" time?
Swept Minnesota today. Thanks for pointing me at the team, I'll follow more closely. Just saw, Kennedy Martin was named D-1 player of the week. And she's a freshman. 6'6".
Here's the set-up. Come November and the end of football, crabby, disgruntled fans will head this way and give the usual whining and complaining a jump start and will be in full force by the end of December. Even if hoops does reasonably well it won't matter. Merry Christmas to all.
Doesn't pay to get too excited. we have been let down a lot lately. We should be better in basketball this year but are we that much better to make up for the football season?
