My guess is that the expectation to keep the info private might not have been conveyed to him until after the article was published and someone saw. My guess on keeping the info private was they wanted to spring it on Georgia as a surprise.
Makes sense. Cats out of the bag now, but it isn't being reported by any major new sources. I suspect Georgia knows about it, but probably too late to gameplan around it. Nobody really knows how many minutes he will get anyway. There is a 100% chance we keep the same starting 5. I assume he subs for Chinyelu, but it will proabbly be based on matchups at the time.
Not sure what to make of this. It didn't make any sense until I saw in one of the clips that with this decision, he gets another year of eligibility. I don't know how it does, but then there's little I understand about the eligibility rules anymore. That said, if he wants to play and is ready to play, I'm thrilled to have him. Gives us significant depth and another great rebounder and shot blocker. IF he can play today, I imagine it won't be for more than 5 or so minutes. Gotta shake the rust off and get into sync, and that takes time. We're not going to risk a home loss to Georgia just to rush his return to form. Another thing to consider. Micah looks physically stronger than last season. A beast in the making?
I've heard conflicting information. Latest word was no. Everyone . . . be careful and don't start threads with clickbait sites please. Also, the Chris Harry story was pulled for a reason. Not good to go find and republish it here. When it's time, it's time . . . (From October 2024).
I saw Micah doing jumping, spinning high fives in Orlando on Thanksgiving day and wondered why he wasn't suiting up...
The more Mike White is involved in coaching and game planning, the more likely it is that the other team wins…
Personally, I am worried about their freshman phenom Asa Newell. He could do things. Next year, after some more famous Mike White coaching, nope!
I meant to comment on this as well looking at next year. My take, its better to go for it making the FF this year with the guards and team we have instead of waiting. Next year the guards will be gone, NIL might pull others away, and who knows what chances we will have making it as far. Its hard to say if we will have as good a team next year without Clayton, Martin, and Richards. I think this team and coaching staff think they have the pieces to get there, especially if Micah is able to contribute like last year.
Agree, if the whole point of college ball is the experience and development, get back at it - especially if you can make a meaningful contribution, which he can. It would kill him to be able to make a contribution and can’t. Last year he had to sit out the last 2 postseason games. He deserves a big postseason run
Don't know what to think except that the very idea runs counter to what TG and Handy said as he was beginning rehab. Things change and the competitive force runs strong in this one.
It sounded like the original decision to medical redshirt was in part to not put too much pressure on his rehab and give him time to fully heal before rushing back. But also from the get go it seemed like he was ahead of schedule. This might have always been the goal, but didn’t want the outside pressure and constant questions. Now let’s see if we can roll out Rioux just in time for the Alabama game
