McElwain was SEC Coach of the Year, went to two SEC Championships and was 22-12 with UF.

His undoing will be that he cannot coach at this level of football. 3 years of being unorganized football with the largest staff in the history of Football. The blunders are mind boggling.

I now think he has put together a decent team and we have some talent. They have found something on Defense the last two weeks, that actually looks capable. When it actually comes down to in game coaching he is majority flawed.

It is a poker saying and is true over the long term when it comes to poker. However, I doubt Billy has played much poker. If he does/has, he's the fish at the table. Knowing a poker saying doesn't make someone a good poker player and it certainly doesn't make you a good football coach if you don't apply the adage.

There is strategy and tactics. Strategy is the plan and tactics are how you achieve success. I don't think he understands that tactics are part of the process and you need tactics to execute the plan.

Will this nightmare ever end? SS won't fire him because if he did he would admit his own his failure. Where are the big money Bull Gators? Something has to happen and asap.

You are not wrong. But given the buyout involved I doubt Stricklin could fire him even if he wanted to. Changes need to come from the top and the changes need to be wholesale.

    Wouldn't hold my breath though.

Wouldn't even be surprised if he is here at the start of next season.

Let's be honest......Napier had no viable two-point play in the playbook. I don't think he was scared.

He just didn't know what to call. And no offensive coordinator to call something in to help either.

Run straight seems like a pretty good plan and is the first play in his playbook.

That's exactly when, "Scared Money Don't Make Money " should have kicked in. He has absolutely zero feel for the game. He would play poker the same way. First down is generally a wasted down due to running it straight into the pile virtually each and every time. A deep pass would shock me and since it's so predictable, it might shock a defense, and everyone else we play would have to think about defending against it.

The whole "scared money..." line I think worked at Louisiana when they had games against Texas State or Troy.

It's an accurate statement, but if you never chance it, then it's just trite BS. It only works if you employ it once in awhile. He said it, but doesn't remotely embrace the idea.

I disagree re: Stricklin. Billy's inadequacies as a coach are there for all to see, and Stricklin can't pretend otherwise. His record says it all. If he wants to keep his job, he'll fire Napier, and trust me, big money boosters will be involved. But the firing doesn't have to be asap.

There is no hot coach that is available right now that we might miss out on by waiting, so what's the point?

I agree. Though I did sort of want them to go for 2 I had no confidence they could
    1. Make the 2-point conversion
    2. Keep UT from scoring in the time left.

Going for two was a no brainer in that situation.

That said, the gimmicky formation we trotted out in makes me realize there was a 0% chance we would have conferred lol

Last night I texted a friend that the defense was going to have to win it. Last night was the night I think they would have had what it took if the offense had made the 2 pt conversion to win the game. So, I'm not putting any of this on the defense.
