I have not read this piece yet but it was cited in the Florida Politics text service as follows

    Worth a read -
It isn't as explosive as their Ziegler reporting, but The Florida Trident has another piece worthy of your time.
"Inside Jacksonville's culture of corruption and ongoing Republican civil war" delves into the ongoing war between some of the top power brokers in Northeast Florida.
    Warning: It gets pretty saucy.

Just read. Sounds like what the Jax posters on the board were saying after the Deegan election. Still is pretty astounding to read

Based on my interactions will the city council and Daniel Davis, none of this surprises me. All that ever mattered was what lobbyist you paid to go in front of council for you. And the councilmembers would certainly "point you in the right direction" of who to hire.

I'm also not surprised to see Matt Carlucci on the right side of history here. He's a good dude.

Thanks. I thought you were the poster that seemed to know about it after the Deegan election but I didn't trust my memory. How much of this piece is new to someone like you that is up on it?

Wow, Seems there was a lot more criminal activity than the little bit charged to date. Major props to the pubs who stepped up and raised funds to help the dem candidate defeat the maga pub candidate. Would hope that more of the city council are indicted

I wouldn't say its new to me, but the level of it is pretty staggering. I only dealt with it on a personal level. For example, we needed to get approval to get a historic building demolished (it had already collapsed in on itself) and our councilman told us exactly what firm to hire to " make the approval happen". Then the councilman told me he had to vote against it to not piss off his constituents, but he already had the votes lined up behind the scenes to make sure it went through. In return he had promised to vote for stuff the other council members needed passed.

Honestly the most shocking thing was how non-chalant he was about the whole thing. He didn't know me from Adam, but was just blatantly telling me how corrupt it is. Also, his mom may have gotten a new roof on her house out of the deal.......

Wow. That is shocking. Bet there are others like you reading this and realizing how big and corrupt it was. Thanks

Ive never experienced another city outside of Gainesville, so I don't know how it compares. But Jax has to be about as good Ole boy as it gets for a major city.

Volusia county/daytona beach is ran by a few power players. Mori Hosseini (ICI homes) Brown&Brown insurance, the France family of Daytona international speedway Corp, Gale lemerand, Halifax health etc etc. Former mayor owned a car dealership and tow company. Current mayor has had children and nephews arrested for dealing and even got shot at with very little media coverage before the issues disappear every time. It's why I'm non partisan and have zero faith in any politician.

Probably, and Deegan working feverishly to take down Jacksonville’s last Confederate statue so blacks can move on.

There was another party involved in the whole thing that owns a roofing company. So he ate the cost of a roof for councilmember's mom....

To be fair, I'm not aware of any particular shady dealings he's been involved in just that he is a major donor out here as well. The others though are wrought with back room dealings.

You can smell the corruption in Palatka. Though it may just be the pulp mill.
