This dude who has never made any racist public comments in his life, at least as far as most of us probably know, just gets to apologize for an apparent super-gaffe.

But if this were said by Trump, who has a well-documented lifelong pattern of both racist words, deeds, and deliberate lies, as well as running presidential campaigns on a platform of race-baiting and lies.......well then people would react totally differently!!!!!!!!!

I can see this sort of “mistake” happening and wouldn’t judge a person’s racist-factor based upon such a slip-up. I think some of the subsequent self-flagellating apologies are a bit over the top. Heck, it wasn’t that long ago that B Obama indicated his grandmother’s reaction to black men would be that of “typical white women” ….. and he never apologized to “typical white women” for his “stereotypification”.

Good grief. Would this have gotten more attention if it had come from Trump than it did from a low-profile congressman from Maryland? Of course.
Would it have gotten more attention if it had come from Biden than it would have had it come from a low-profile Republican congressman? Of course.

 

By definition the GOP nominee for POTUS saying something is going to get attention. Water is also wet.

 

In that hypothetical did Biden immediately apologize, take accountability, and state that the use of that word is unacceptable? Or did he double down, pretend he did nothing wrong, and then play the victim?

That's why the similar Trump threads get posted and talked about so much - the inability to apologize and admit he did something wrong.
