From a few articles I read, it was mutually agreed upon to redshirt Manning. Allow him to learn the system and bulk up so he would be ready for the SEC. I would like to see the same with Lagway if possible.
These days with college free agency signing a letter of intent doesn’t even mean THAT much. I’m to the point now that I’ll start to care about these young men to some extent in August but won’t get too attached to them because they could be gone at any point.
At this point Mertz is the far superior QB. Maturity, poise, knowing the playbook, and Mertz literally just showed he was one of the best in all of college football last year. Sit back, learn, hopefully get some blow out play time. If BN wants a 4th year it will be Mertz.
ESPN2 guy just said he talked to D J Lagway's father, who told him the Southern Cal & Lincoln Riley have been in touch with them and are trying very hard to flip him from Florida. USC's starting QB is going to the NFL, their freshman 5-star back-up Malachi Nelson is in the transfer portal and they have no QB in their current signing class. Lagway has been the diamond and linchpin of this class from the beginning. If we lose him ......
Hey Gator40 - why the C'mon man? I just stated what I saw on TV. Our recruiting class has lost 9 guys with 3 still unsigned from the time we were ranked #3. Right now we're sitting at #15, 8th in the SEC. Not looking good and you can C'mon man it all you like, but it doesn't change what's happening.
We've dropped from #3 2 months ago to #15 with 2 more unsigned guys who could flip. No nearly as good as we need to get a whole lot better, IMO. 8 straight Top 3 recruiting class for Georgia, per ESPN, 6 straight for Alabama. For Florida it'll be 3 straight years without a Top 10 class.
Your insinuation that DJ was flipping when he never was and you posting the same misleading post in 10 different threads. His dad said he didn't know why Riley was still calling because DJ wasn't going anywhere. You never posted that part. Try harder to be better. Lagway literally sent his LOI into UF first thing this morning and kept things quiet so his teammates at his highschool could have their commitments first, but you were spreading misinformation and squawking like he's gone based on what clueless TV personalities have to say. You can complain about it all you want, but it doesn't change what you were doing.
I put in the post what I heard the ESPN reporter say. And I listened to his entire interview. I was glad to see that Lagway came on later and confirmed that he had sent in his NLI. He DID NOT send in his letter this morning. 247Sports has been reporting letters as they come in and Lagway's was the most recent one they showed - about 4:30 pm. Get off your high horse, man.
Could care less about that. Just want to know why challenge me quoting what an ESPN reporter says. You might not like it, but I wrote down what I heard him say, nothing more or less.
Wrong. It was sent in this morning. UF just didn't officially acknowledge it until his press conference. The schools let the recruiting services know when the kids send it in. UF had it but withheld the info from them. Calm down.
So glad DJ signed with the Gators! So hoping to see in the tv reports how USC and TaM got turned down in their late approaches to change his mind about where he signed.... Give some bad pub to those bi#@#$#$ for their failing.......... Way to go DJ, will be cheering you on in your Gator career here and all of your Gator teammates! GO GATORS!!!!
You are not wrong: but class rankings are, after all subjective and even the rankings we are getting now are not outside the realm of being considered good. I like getting the big O lineman from San Diego State and the D lineman we picked up from Penn. In addition to a ton of good talented young guys back from last year: especially on defense, we have some talented players coming in that could contribute. We are better off roster wise than we were. More importantly, the players should all be on the same page by now. We just need the staff to rise to the occasion now and being the cockeyed optimist I am I think they will. Some of the cancer has been removed. Some of these 5* guys we missed on will probably be in the portal next year. If we are still interested maybe we can reach out again.
Uh... you might be mistaken. Muschamp was the one that if he scored and got ahead in the first quarter he'd go straight to prevent defense. Lol...
