Illinois Gov JB Pritzker gives a great speech at Northwestern commencement

I was there. My daughter was in the graduating class. He gave a great speech from the perspective of a father (as opposed to a politician). I don't know much about his policies as governor, but we have some friends in Northbrook who are not fans. Regardless, I thought the speech was great.

 

And as an aside, Steve Carrell’s daughter was in this graduating class!

 

You men the guy who just won re-election by 12 points who now has an approval rating if 52%? I can see how some folks downstate are not happy but about their inability to ban books in their public libraries and might also be concerned about a possible ban on assault weapons. But 52% is pretty respectable. The vibe on JB is very positive in the town we’re I live. I think he got close to 80% of the vote here.

 

He hasn't been arrested. In a state where 7 governors have been arrested and 4 of the last 10 governors have been convicted, that's an accomplishment.

 

That's quite a high bar he's setting in a place known for its' crooked politics.

 

You must live in Skokie. LOL. I have never heard anyone have a kind word for this governor. I think the reason he has decent pole numbers is because all of the businesses and people with money are fleeing the state. I think it’s been the number one state for exodus for the last two or three years. The only people left are liberals who love the destruction and free stuff… present Company excluded of course..

 

Janet Reno spoke at my law school graduation. Long before she was AG. No recall of what she said. I didn’t want to go. I didn’t go to my college graduation. My parents wanted to see me walk because they paid for my schooling. They weren’t rich— they sacrificed. I couldn’t argue with them in this point so I went. I would rather that the school just mail my diploma to me. Introverts are that way.
