    Florida
First, do we know who she voted for or are we just assuming who it was? We had three men arrested near me for voter fraud in Florida. They voted for their deceased spouses. They voted for Trump.

I'm fine with requiring an ID, but we have to allow at least going past the current election cycle, to give time for these voters to be able to obtain a free ID, along with the transportation to obtain one. Maybe have a mobile ID program where they come to you. Otherwise, it's yet another resolution looking for a problem.

Trumpie is already priming the follower pumps that this election is going to be "stolen" again, even after he said he lost "by a whisker" last time. People are gullible.

Just for quantitative observation: Va has 5,743,000 voters as of Nov 2023. So one 10th of one percent is 5743 voters but we MUST make a massive issue for 616 voters when we already enforce the existing law. Tilting at windmills much?

Not sure about other states, but in Florida we have provisional ballots for those who don't have their ID with them. There doesn't seem to be a lot of concern about that here at least.

Simple. How many votes actually decided the 2000 election? So now don't go trying to move the goalposts. You asked and I provided the answer. 536 votes. That didn't need a "large enough scale". Now 2020 wasn't decided by illegal voting that I know of but I just showed how small a margin can be. Don't you want every election to be fraud free? Well, a lot of people think you should have an ID to vote(80%). You haven't made a compelling argument for why we don't need ID to vote.

Take it up with the League of Women Voters. Try reading the link. They made the exact same argument. Guess they are stupid too?

I do find it comical that people keep trying their best to do mental gymnastics to explain that we don't need ID to vote when you literally need an ID to do just about anything(except vote LOL).

Unless you have a time machine, you wouldn't know in advance which state, and exactly how many votes would be needed. If you were trying to swing this election, in which state would you commit fraud and how many votes would make you feel comfortable that your preferred candidate would win? I know you don't care about either candidate, but this is a hypothetical scenario where you want to swing it to one candidate or another.

Try to make a compelling case that voter fraud is a problem and can be committed on a large enough scale to swing an election.

LOL. 80% of the country agrees with me. You are on a small island trying to make ridiculous claims. Just require ID to vote like you need an ID to do pretty much anything. Hell, why do I need ID to fly? There isn't a bunch of fraud when trying to fly? It's not just about swinging elections, it's about actually giving neither side the room to say there was fraud. We have zero idea if there is non citizens voting in some states. This isn't even a partisan idea. 80% of the country is a huge percentage yet some on here just dismiss it like the 80% are the crazy ones LOL.

Voter fraud isn’t a large scale problem and requiring some sort of ID to vote is fine.

Do you think 80% fully grasp and understand the issue? It sounds good on the surface because 80% of people have an ID so it's no big deal to them, but there are studies showing that potentially millions of people do not have IDs:

Maryland Today | UMD Analysis: Millions of Americans Don’t Have ID…
Millions of Americans Don’t Have Documents Proving Their Citizenship Readily Available

The reason to ask for ID is as a control to make sure only citizens are voting on election day but we already have controls:

    • You need to provide proof that you're a citizen to register to vote by providing a valid SSN. Just because you fill out the form doesn't automatically give you the right to vote since that SSN will be verified against the SSN database.
    • The voter needs to be alive which can also be verified against the SSN database
    • You need to provide an address in the state in which you're voting. When you go to vote, the precinct will have your name and address on file. You have to proactively provide that information which the worker will verify against the information on file.

Just because a state doesn't require an ID doesn't mean anyone can walk in and cast a ballot without being verified, which brings me back to my point - how would anyone commit fraud on a scale to matter without getting caught?

Yes, if the state has an easy way for all eligible citizens to get IDs. When the issue first came up, I assumed everyone had IDs. But they obviously don’t.
And it needs to be repeated that there’s zero indication of lots of people voting in someone else’s name.

Sorry, Florida 2000 isn't a case for voter fraud deciding an election. Several links here about the infrequency of voter fraud, with the consensus being it happens about 1 in every 50,000 to 100,000 votes. In 2000, Florida had 5,825,043 votes tallied. So the expected fraud would be between 60 and 120 total votes. Even if the fraud was 4X the lower total of 1 in 50,000, there still wouldn't have been enough fraud votes to change the outcome.

It would have taken 1 fraud vote in every 10,000 to have changed the outcome in 2000. And this assumes all fraud votes would have been for Gore, which is a bad assumption. To think needing ID would have stopped this fraud that would have been 5X to 10X larger than expected also requires a bad assumption. And that's needing ID would have stopped all fraud votes, which we know is not true. The person in the OP had an ID, a passport, and voted illegally with an illegal ID that likely would not have been caught by a ballot worker.

Requiring an ID to vote is a solution looking for a problem. And one that creates an additional problem, which is a barrier for some to be able to legally vote.

This dead horse of an argument by leftists …. that some people cannot get a photo ID ….. is one of the more ridiculous by the demo sheep. It’s the same mindless pablum every election yet ….. not one of the sad sack dems makes any effort to assist those Americans who have no ID to obtain one. Instead they rent their clothing and gnash their teeth over the issue but fail to address the problem. It’s just the same old leftie MO ….. gripe about a problem but do nothing to resolve it as they are simply incapable of doing anything positive, productive.

LOL. My son forgot his ID when he went to get his shot and got turned away. Saying it's not required and real life are 2 different things.

What's the problem? Non-existent mass fraud? We already have seen Republicans do things like shut down polling locations in Democratic areas like college campus and ban people from handing out water. Why should I expect that this is in good faith and they won't just make it harder for people on the other side to vote?
