You conveniently left out the very first game, where the offense was not "slow to click" at all. Since you hate revisionist history, I thought I would point that out.
I don't take offense to your take on spurriers first season. I would just add that it's a bit different comparing the revolutionary change in offensive scheme and philosophy he was bringing in especially given our archaic offensive strategy the year before. Also, by years end the offense made some strides as you said and it was the defense that couldn't keep up with fsu....and the refs.
I would never do such a thing- revise history. (Not on purpose anyway.) The post I was replying to talked about that first game so there was no need to mention it. And again- that team we chewed up so bad was the bottom of the big 8. So a bad team in a bad league. We did run over them. Of course, Zooker did the same vs San Jose State. It didn't mean anything. (Zooker's rout- not Spurrier's.) The SOS offense scored 10 vs Bama, 3 vs UT and 27 vs Furman. Once we got to November though- cooking with gas as they said back then. Almost all first year coaches run into hiccups- even my favorite coach of all time- in any sport- Steve Spurrier. it's the nature of the beast- as much as some on here don't want to hear it.
We should have finished the RS 8-4. AR cost us UK and Vandy. We've never had a QB that played with less heart.
I like chaos & havoc, my kind of firm. Five potential chaos teams ready to wreak havoc on College Football Playoff race in 2023 season
Was waiting for this one to bump. I do enjoy seeing all the unknown posters show up when things are down.
We have a QB. Disappointed in our DL thought we would have some sacks and pressure. Think we will be in all games with a little improvement
Disappointed in the DL? They did a great job up front and stuffed the Utah run game for the most part.
