Max winds predicted now at 155 abiut 24 prior to landfall, much of CF getting heavy rain today will add to inland flooding. Small storm now but likely to have expanding wind field as it interacts with shear and land causing widespread damage as it traverses the Florida peninsula. Buckle up.
Like Helene It's just strange to me the models haven't caught up to how rapidly these intensify now with the warmer gulf waters. It's literally every time they come through
If it keeps going ESE it could scrape the Yucatan and take some of the steam out if it. We will see in thr next few hours.
Within less than two weeks two hurricanes rapidly intensified to Cat 4 in the Gulf of Mexico and have or are threatening the west coast of Florida, tell me again that global climate change is a hoax.
Posted it in the Helene thread. Water temps in the Gulf are 2.5 degrees warmer now than they were like 20 years ago. Without getting into the climate change discussion at all, that's just a scientific fact. Warmer waters. And warmer waters fuel hurricanes rapidly. Gulf coast living may be short lived.
Praying it spares Tampa Bay. I spent most of my adulthood there and know very well how ugly it could get. I’m in South Florida now and there’s already a run on gas.

The combination of a dangerous storm surge and the tide will cause normally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by rising waters moving inland from the shoreline. The water could reach the following heights above ground somewhere in the indicated areas if the peak surge occurs at the time of high tide... Anclote River, FL to Englewood, FL...8-12 ft Tampa Bay...8-12 ft Yankeetown, FL to Anclote River, FL...5-10 ft Englewood, FL to Bonita Beach, FL...5-10 ft Charlotte Harbor...5-10 ft Bonita Beach, FL to Chokoloskee, FL...4-7 ft Suwannee River, FL to Yankeetown, FL...3-5 ft
Haven't studied the updated models, but has sounded like we've all gotta be on team wind shear and hope to see some weakening before landfall.
