it was rated for the winds and failed.

 

I have some wire nuts, we can get that thing spliced back together and you up and running in no time.

 

We lost power a little bit ago, but are all good thus far. We live in Citrus and are inland so we’re not on danger of flooding. My MIL had a tree come through her roof and she’s currently watching my dog so worried about them. Will have to assess damage in morning.

 

Wasn’t there a book condominium written in the 80s about this happening?

@96Gatorcise Thank you. You have, along with others obviously more knowledgeable about this weather stuff than I am, been an incredible resource throughout this monster. Hope you are alright, your power gets restored quickly and everything else is good. Please check in when you are able, even if it's just to say you are "OK."

In fact, other participants in this thread should check in as well. Even if we all don't always get along super well politically, we are all Gators and I'm sure everyone was pulling for everyone else to get through this thing as unscathed as possible.

Yeah, that thing didn’t fail by a little bit either. It looks completely shredded.

 

It's unclear if people we still in Tropicana when the roof failed. The stadium officials say they were hosting 1000s of linemen and national guard members. The governor's office said the staging area was already relocated before the failure.

Jeremy Redfern, Gov. Ron DeSantis' press secretary, said the lineman's staging area had already been relocated before the roof was damaged.

 

This storm took a similar path as two years ago when volusia got flooded. The entire time they covered the storm the northeast quadrant of it was over volusia. I was surprised to see such minimal coverage this time because they were projecting 14 inches of rain for us yet not much mention about volusia throughout the storm.

We somehow made it almost unscathed but I have several friends and family dealing with water issues and no power. No idea what kind of damage otherwise until daylight. The wind and rain was relentless here in east volusia. We Will be helping whoever needs it when we aren't at work because again we did ok but others weren't so lucky.

 

Of course he is saying that, why would he want to admit that he had the first responders right in the eye of the storm, in a building with a cloth roof.

Maybe if he had taken Kamala's call she could have told him it was a bad idea.

Here in Ponce we had gusts to 99.
My MIL, BIL and two of my wife’s Nieces are all flooded. They live well inland in Port Orange and South Daytona respectively.

My home weather station picked up 11 inches of rain since yesterday am.

Lucky for me no damage (very new house metal roof, CB). Built for 150 or so.

Another round of squall suspected to come in shortly.

 

Seems like Jax got spared as far as I can tell. I have a mystery that maybe someone smarter than me can solve though.

We lost power at 4:15 am. Heard a transformer blow. It flickered back on a minute later and heard a transformer blow again. Power came back on for good an hour later at 5am. I know there aren't linemen working during the storm at 4am. My only guess is either whatever fell on the line somehow blew off and the transformer reset, or they rerouted where we get our power from?

 

My understanding is that some places have "smart grids" where when one part goes out, they can isolate the problem, and re-route the power. Might be the case or not.
