Show her this. There's a chance her place will look similar very soon. Nobody should be staying in that area, let alone a 79 yr old woman. Get her the hell out of there.

Strengthening again, pressure back down to 923, winds up to 155. Might make cat 5 again before the weakening starts.

Curious what the forecast was 24 hours ago for right now. Was it to have weakened beyond what it has? This has been a hard one to predict.

Unfortunately, for almost every me, there is a you. Stay safe, Gr8t. Hope we can both avoid this somehow.

Always the guilt of hoping it tears up someone else's life rather than your own...

The 5p has it a bit farther south, but still strengthening. 165MPH again.

The further south it goes the better for me. Am I doing this right people who support trump. All I care about is me and mine.

It’s a shame that you feel the need to turn what is sure to be a tragedy for thousands into a political jab.

updated advisory now has it at 165 mph/905 mb

there are discussions amongst meteorologists that it could go lower tonight before weakening. Some are saying the 880's MB.

Tallahassee has the MagLab to protect it, so you would just be screwing over the folks to either side who have taken the monsters in recent years.

(For those not familiar with this particular bit of North Florida humor, Tallahassee hosts the major east coast location of the National High Magnetic Field laboratory and the magnet with the planet’s strongest continuous magnetic field, and there is a mostly joking conspiracy theory that the reason Tallahassee never takes a direct hit from even hurricanes that are seemingly aimed directly at it is because they can just fire up the MagLab and the magnetic fields of the super electromagnets will steer the storm slightly away.)

I am right in the middle of that hurricane path... I want to take this time to wish everyone out there a safe and healthy ride if you can't get out of the path of this killer hurricane... As for me... I'll be riding' the storm out (without the Rocky Mountain winter... song) at home in hot, sweaty Central Florida.

Good luck man. Listen to your local authorities even after the storm though, venture out when it’s safe for you and the emergency workers.

I will, thank you, and you too... if you're in the path or even near the hurricane effects. I just hope no nasty tornadoes develop and change the equation.

At least the water levels will NOT a problem for me... higher ground.
