Okay they just turned the power back on... thanks to those linemen from Missouri for getting the power connected.
I was just forwarded this # from our congresswoman - Fla Attorney General's Price Gouging Hotline. Hopefully no one will need it, but if you do. 866-966-7226
Daughter goes to FGCU, apparently they are having issues as school is shut down until 10/10. Friends live in Ft Myers and just got the power back on today, but no AC, TV, or internet.
As a Gator now living in Colorado, I miss the days when I could get storm updates/ spaghetti models, etc. when the hurricanes were blowing through. In storms past, I could always come to GatorCountry and get all the updates and local goings on with the storms from all my GC friends on this blessed site. Seems this hurricane there was a dearth of posters reporting this kind of info? *Edit: Found the other Hurricane Ian thread on Too Hot.
Yea, not sure why that thread got most of the traffic, maybe because some THFSG posters live in the area and reported in, but it has been much longer and more informative.
Sanibel should not allow any further development, turn it into a State Park with jogging/bike trails and that is it.
Reporting again after the fact. I lost power around 5 pm Wed and also lost internet, email. Text capability was sporadic….also phone service. still have no power. Sitting in a Publix charging my phone. I got off very easy in terms of hassle from Ian. But no power is indeed annoying. That’s nothing , though, compared to what others just north of me have had to go through. Hope all are well. - David (I hate hurricanes…natural as well as football) PwrMc
Just wanted to check in again and see how everyone was doing. I've been working at my Mom's house putting in new flooring. I picked up LVP this morning from the local Home Depot. Their Lifeproof brand. 60 cases. Going to do the whole house except bathrooms, kitchen, Florida room, laundry room, and entry which are already tile. Gotta give a plug to the folks at our Home Depot here. Excellent service! They were really on the ball this morning and were very helpful with this order. I brought it to Mom's in my Silverado and already have it unloaded - half inside the home & the other half in the front entry. I have help coming tonight to rip out the three bedroom's carpeting. I've already evacuated everything I could to other places in the house so we could get to the flooring work. Please catch us up on your related activities, if any!
Heading down to volunteer in Cape Coral this weekend. Part of a church crew. Feel obligated to do so since the volunteers that spent a long hot Saturday cutting and moving tons (literally, tons) of downed trees from my yard after Hurricane Michael came down from South Carolina. The wife and I are doing this for us, not just for the families we will help that we don’t know and haven’t met yet. It will be grueling work for old farts but it will be rewarding.
