Honestly, at this point, the deficit is like "World Peace". Just a bunch of platitudes with no actual plan to make it happen.

That is pretty much his thing on here. Basically, parrot Trump talking points while in bad faith claiming that he doesn't like Trump.

I want our spending cut first. THEN, see where we are as a country. IF we still are running a deficit, then yes, i'm fine with raising taxes(on highest income brackets first). We have a massive spending problem, not a revenue problem imo. Cuts have to happen. It's hard but must be done. I love the concept of DOGE, hate the execution.

What's the point of that? To quote Cheech and Chong, "Just go with it man."

That's so weird. But so typically MAGA.

Well, Trump isn't fine with it. He wants to do symbolic cuts (of things that don't matter, but "own libs") then institute a multi-trillion dollar tax cut. Deficit Hawks should be aghast at this.

Also, DOGE was always about the execution, not the end result. Another golden chance to "own libs" that simply could not be passed up as the results are weak at best and probably damaging in the long term.

It’s a programmed response. It’s why anti-vaxxers like myself are subject to the response even though Trump considers himself the Father of the Covid vaccine.

I sympathize with your position but it’s hard to take you seriously about cuts to impactful offices like the cdc while the military budget is 100 times larger and still growing.

Do you see me defending trump anywhere? Not sure why you keep thinking i'm some trump fan. Have never voted for him in 3 elections and see both sides as the issue regarding our spending problems. And, anyone against getting rid of waste in our govt is either an idiot or on the take.

LOL. Did I say defense spending shouldn't be cut? Because I said across the board. And I'm fine cutting defense spending even more if needed. So, sorry if I don't have sympathy for someone who didn't read my post or chose to ignore it.

DOD need a complete overhaul in terms of purchasing and vendors/contractors. It's so bloated with zero competition. I almost want to expand defense contracting to foreign firm in an effort to light a fire under our industry. Maybe we should bring companies like Dassault, Mitsubishi and Saab to the table on some of these contracts. I don't even blame the contractors. It's just what happens when you get this much consolidation and, hate to say it, complacency.

I didn’t see you attacking the f47 post for example. You just defend the admin cutting wildly other places and then avoid criticizing in threads about immigration spending or defense. But mea culpa if I’m wrong - I haven’t researched your full posting history.

Cool, slash $Trillions in wasted military and intelligence off-book budgets and restore 1950's era tax brackets.

They don’t actually know what they are doing when it comes to cutting.

None of it is actually thoughtful or methodical, it’s just cutting for the sake of cutting while they can get away with it, and of course leaving out the biggest targets.

Then they will pass huge tax cuts that will blow a much bigger hole into the debt/deficit.

These are unserious people with a real lack of empathy.

What is the interest rate again? Over 10% or under 10% for a mortgage? People were paying 14-16% for mortgages in the 1970's. Was the U.S. economy on life support? Was it terminal? Or did it recover with capable management? Mortgages are around 6.5%. It's not the time to panic.

What is the largest thing that government spends money on? Isn't it something called "entitlements"--Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.? Why would Trump not address that spending? He is cutting a trivial expense by laying off large numbers of SSA employees, insuring that people cannot get access to their retirement money, but he is not cutting the main expense, the recipients of SS income.

How is cutting a minor expense like the CDC going to eliminate the national debt? We just saw how the CDC supported the efforts to get a vaccine for a moderately deadly virus during Covid. The U.S. came very close to overloading the hospitals in several large cities, which would have led to millions of deaths. What is going to happen when the next deadly disease breaks out and there aren't enough scientists to develop a vaccine? Are we going to rely on Trump's miracle cures, which are often more fatal than the disease? Do you want millions of Americans to die? Do you know what that would do to the economy? Shouldn't you be on a steady diet of horse de-wormer pills, fish tank cleaning pills, and bleach injections?

And why has Trump given up on building the Great Wall of Mexico? Why were the Trumpers all hot and bothered about immigration in 2017-2020, and even during the 2024 election, but now everything is about cutting costs and trying to make other countries pay our bills for us through tariffs? Do you ever get tired of being led around by the nose by an idiot and a con-man? How do you not get tired of being lied to?

All of this whining and hand-wringing over federal spending by the MAGA crowd is hilarious, considering what Trump is doing to bring the world closer to WWIII. He is appeasing marauding dictators like Putin and Xi, encouraging them to continue with plans to invade other countries. Even Trump fans will gladly tell you that Trump is "giving Zelenskyy enough rope to hang himself with" while plotting how the U.S. can get in on the action of robbing Ukraine's corpse.

Taking the long view, Trump encouraging Putin and Xi to invade other countries will only cause the world to become more dangerous. Now, Trumpers, a little math question to stretch the simple minds: Will further aggression by Russia and China cause U.S. defense spending to increase or decrease?

Why go after pennies...vaporize the military budget and social security. We spend more than the next ten countries combined. If you really want to be serious dont go after the little stuff...wipe out a trillion dollars of military and things will roll along just fine....until they dont.

How much did being unprepared for a pandemic cost financially. In the US and globally? 10's of trillions of dollars...so now the solution is to save a millionth of a penny because stuff like that never happens. So why prepare?...lets get our Sharpie and UV light and get drunk on dewormer...its all good.
